So I'm about to participate in a Fantasy Campaign come January and it has really stoked my black, cold heart and made me whip my slaves butt's into gear and actually get my Dark Elf army painted that I've had for nearly 2 years (where does the time go??).

Anyway, the campaign sounded really cool and it seemed like the perfect excuse to jump in on the new Ed and play some fantasy again. Not to mention make new friends as I just moved back to Phoenix after being gone for nearly 3 years.

So without further delay, here's pics of the first unit I've painted.

10 Repeater xbowmen with full command.
This unit took me about 2 weeks to complete (painting about an hour or two a day at most if I was lucky).

Now I'll be the first to admit that they are not up to my usual standards.
For example, the crossbows have a single coat of Calthan brown and that's it. Normally, I would use a minimum of 3 layers before I would even think of them as being done. But I'm trying to force myself to be less a perfectionist with the rank and file guys.

Plus the unit still needs some static grass before they'll be complete in my eyes.
Now that I've got my paint scheme down, I expect the rest of my units to get done much, much faster.

And the next unit is primed and base painted green.
Sharp eyed readers will notice the unit is only 9 strong. I accidentally miscounted while building the two units and only just now noticed as I never field them since they're useless for the most part.

And for fun (plus so I don't forget how I did them), here's the steps I used for painting them:

1. Prime black
2. Paint base with watered down goblin green.
3. Drybrush armor and weapons boltgun metal.
4. Paint robes & arms with Mechchrite red
5. Wash robes & arms with gryphonne sepia
6. Paint Robes & arms with Red Gore
7. Paint belts with Bleached bone then skull white
8. Dwarf bronze on ammo clip & on musician's horn
9. Paint xbows Calthan Brown
10. Drybrush base with Bad moon yellow
11. Paint boots Chaos Black
12. Paint Hands and face with Elf Flesh

C&C welcomed

Alright, so since my last post, I've completed the 2nd unit of crossbowmen.
No pics as they're pretty much the same as the ones I've posted above except this new unit has brown belts instead of white.

Haven't done any painting, instead I've been busy converting and prepping minis to be ready to paint.
So watch this space as I'll have a number of goodies top share with you shortly.
Especially when my bits order gets in (hopefully this Friday/Saturday).

But to wet your appetite, here's a couple of pics of my new Dreadlord on his baby dragon (b/c pegasusses are for girls)! ;)

Sadly my bits order didn't get in until yesterday (monday), but that's okay, I was busy regardless.

Thanks to the bits order arriving, I was able to finish up my Cold One Chariots as well as begin work on another super secret project for my DE's. But I won't spoil the fun on that one. You'll just have to watch this space for more details as they become available...

In the meantime, here's some pics of my completed chariots.

Chariot #1.

Chariot #2.

And a close up of his spear tip:

Unfortunately I had based the cold ones before completely dry-fitting everything together, so now I'm stuck with the charioteers holding on for dear life. LOL. Oh well, it's fine and looks decent on the tabletop, especially once painted.

PS. They aren't 100% completed. I will be running a chain from the cold ones to the driver, put that won't get done until I've painted them up first.

So I was going to hold off and post these pics a few days from now, but quite frankly, I don't feel like doing much work at the moment. So you guys get to benefit a bit early from my procrastination.
Hope you enjoy.

Finished converting my 2nd sorceress on foot.
As you can see, she's casting an evil spell to bring about your DOOOOOM!!!!!!

Here's a better look at the evilness coming your way:

And a close up of her staff of evilness:
As you can see, her right hand has been warped by the evil energies that she constantly manipulates, not to mention all the evil pacts with demons she has forged in order to increase her magical prowess to defeat her enemies.

Of course, no sorceress is complete without her sacrificial dagger...

As always C&C welcomed.

PS. Riddle me this: What has 8 legs and 8 heads?
The answer in just a few short days...

Looks cool. Always like to see some Dark Elves.
And in answer to your riddle, I'm going to say two hydras.

@Kieranator: Thanks and good guess.

I finally finished painting my unit of 25 spearmen.
I wanted to give the impression that they flayed people to make their banners so I painted it in skin tones and eventually I'll paint some evil looking runes using inks to simulate blood.

I also need to paint their movement tray and flock their bases.
But in the meantime, for your viewing pleasure, here's what they look like:

C&C always welcomed.

Next up, my unit of Black Guard - aiming to get them done by the end of Christmas weekend.
