Hey there everyone! So I've been doing a lot of thinking on the DE and what kind of list i'd like to aim my model purchases towards. I've already begun and here are some of my thoughts:

Just a little plug for me =) Feel free to comment there (PLEASE!) or here!

So, without further ado:

I've come down to a basic concept of 2xWarriors, 2xWyches, Incubi, 3xRavagers, and it gets interesting from there. Once some models come out for other options I'll be looking forward to incorporating them, but I have neither the time nor the patience to do the major converting needed for aircraft, wracks/grotesques, etc. Therefore, here are two similar lists that I'm interested in running...

List #1

Duke Siliscus
Archon w/Husk Blade, Ghostplate, Combat Drugs, Soul Trap, PGL, Shadowfield

10x Wyches w/Shardnet
Hekatrix w/Agonizer
Raider w/NS, FF

10x Wyches w/Shardnet

Hekatrix w/Agonizer
Raider w/NS, FF
5x Warriors w/Blaster
Venom w/2xCannons, NS

5x Warriors w/Blaster
Venom w/2xCannons, NS
5x Incubi
Klaivex w/Demiklaives
Raider w/NS, FF

7x Kabalite Trueborn
7x Shardcarbines
Raider w/NS, FF, SR

3x Ravagers w/NS, FF

TOTAL: 1849

Now I'm not a big fan of min/max units, I'm a fan of units that do their job and do it well. My thoughts are that the warriors and ravagers primarily hang back, sniping and possibly sticking around to control a home objective near the end of the game. Wyches, Incubi+Archon, Trueborn+Siliscus are the in-your-face damage dealers. The trueborn squad pumps out ~12 wounds per round of shooting, enough to make anyone blink. The Incubi+Archon are a monster CC combination, particularly with the Archon's PGL. Wyches go for the non-CC specialist units, as well as potentially serving as speed bumps/tar pits for troublesome units I'd like to ignore for a while while the other threats do their thing. With 12 Dark Lances I can reliably (sorta) pop things that need to be opened at range while denying my opponents ability to bring all their long-range AT to bear at them between mobility, Nightshields, and Flickerfields.

Other thoughts I've had include:
Adding Vect instead of the generic Archon. He's such a monster and the 4+ seize is pretty game-changing.
To find the 60 points I need, Hekatrii go from Agonizer>PW, downgrade the Klaivex, and lose one shard carbine.

Thoughts? Issues? Recommendations? Lovins??

I like the idea in principle but I do not for a second believe that 12 lances at 1850 is enough anti tank.

I put 12 in my 1000 pt list because mech lists were omgwtfbbqstomping DE here.

9 of your 12 dark lances are on 3 models meaning 3 targets a turn.

Not to mention, one dreadnought drops in your backfield and meltas a ravager to oblivion (which is NOT uncommon at all), you've just lost 40% of your lances in one go. Not to mention then you are having to spend remaining lances shooting at the dreadnought behind you (aka not shooting upfield), or turbo boosting away from it and not shooting at all.

I also think you might be spending too much on HQ choices to be honest... but that's my playstyle.

Only other thing that really grinds my gears is the fact that you only have 3 (I'm only giving the 5 warriors a .5 because they have the staying power of a fart in a hurricane) scoring units.

You have some solid choices.. I love the idea of incubi with an archon... I will say though, that played right, something like Baron Sathonyx with 19 Hellions is the same price and puts out WAY more wounds than an archon and 5 incubi. Not to mention they aren't stranded if their whip gets blown up.

Dump the flickerfields on most of those Raiders. Their main use is on Raiders that will be transporting Wyches and Incubi up field. Night Shields work for anything that's going to be shooting, as you should be able to get decent cover saves most times.

Other than that, drop the Phantasm GL on the Archon; he already has plasma grenades and you shouldn't have a use for defensive grenades.

Lastly, drop the Klaivex completely and run just regular Incubi. They're deadly enough and the Klaivex upgrades aren't that special.

Then, give the Trueborn two splinter cannons.

Then you should be rocking, and with some extra points to throw in some more Shardnets and whatnot.

pretty sure phantasm are for the incubi with the archon who do not have the ability to take grenades...

First, while I agree the number of DLances sounds impressive, the fact that most are on the 3 Ravagers is worrysome. If you had more lances or blasters in other squads it wouldn't be so bad. Upgrade the 2 Venoms to Raiders, you get 2 more DLances (and possibly kill 2 more vehicles per turn).

Next - Wyches are great , but my opponents like to attack them with Dreadnoughts. Even if I hit an infantry unit 1st, Marines will usually have time for a dreadnought to join the fight. Your average wyche isn't going to do much against a dreadnought and the unit will be stuck in combat indefintely until ground down or the game ends. While at first appearing costly, adding Haywire Grenades means the Wyches can take out the Dreads AND take out vehicles if you need the extra help.

I think you only need one HQ unit in an 1850 point game as well. Two is quite expensive and you could use the points elsewhere.

Good Luck!

Drop the Splinter Racks off the trueborn's raider, the rerolls only apply to Splinter Rifles & Pistols. The other issue is your plan for the 5x Warriors... I dont know how your going to 'snipe' with only an 18" range; as said before you need to consolidate some points into more troops because you cannot rely on Wyches to be your scoring units. They are just food for the meatgrinder, its all well and good to score with a few wyches that came out the other side of combat, just dont rely on it to win you games in a competitive environment.
