Hi All

I am looking into building a very small and hard hitting Space Wolves List using Thunderwolves (Thunderbears in my case, will be using Scribor War Bears for my Thunderwolves proxy)

Now I am looking at the following

Wolf Lord 275Pts
Storm Shield, Thunder Hammer, Thunderwolf, Runic Armour, Wolf Tail Talisman, Wolftooth and Saga of the Bear

Wolf Guard Battle Leader 140Pts
Power Armour, Frost Weapon, Storm Shield, Saga of the Wolfkin

Grey Hunters 155 Pts
Melta Gun, Razorback w/Lascannon+TwinLinked Plasma Guns

Grey Hunters 155 Pts
Melta Gun, Razorback w/Lascannon+TwinLinked Plasma Guns

Grey Hunters 155 Pts
Melta Gun, Razorback w/Lascannon+TwinLinked Plasma Guns

ThunderWolf Cavalry 270Pts
3 Thunderwolves, 3 Storm Shields, 1 Thunder Hammer

ThunderWolf Cavalry 270Pts
3 Thunderwolves, 3 Storm Shields, 1 Thunder Hammer

Fenrisian Wolf Pack 80Pts
10 Wolf Pack

1500pts Dead on

Now does this list sound right or is there anything I am missing?

Thanks for any feedback

MasterGideon

So is this list ok? or is there another way to do a Thunderwolf army list at 1500Pts

Wolf Lord 275Pts
Storm Shield, Thunder Hammer, Thunderwolf, Runic Armour, Wolf Tail Talisman, Wolftooth and Saga of the Bear

I would swap the Thunder Hammer for a FrostBlade and Saga of the Bear for Warrior Born. The Wolflord has high initiative, and gets a strength boost from the Thunderwolf. With the FrostBlade he hits at Str 6 and regular initiative. If you still need him to crack vehicles give him Melta-bombs, but for killing Infantry the FrostBlade is better imo.

As for the Saga of the Bear, with the Thunderwolf toughness bonus, you are already immune to insta-kill from Str 8 and 9. Unless you anticipate fighting a lot of Tau (in which case you can still just hide him in a T-wolf unit) I think you'll get more out of Warrior Born or saving points and taking Majesty.

Wolf Guard Battle Leader 140Pts
Power Armour, Frost Weapon, Storm Shield, Saga of the Wolfkin

Why are you taking this guy? If you were giving him Hunter and sticking him with Scouts okay, or a TWolf mount and escorting your other squad of Cavalry cool. But he doesn't add much to a 5 man Grey-Hunter squad, and he'll only slow down your Fenris Wolves. If you're taking him just to get the Stat boost for your wolves, you're paying more for him than the entire unit of wolves. Drop him, give Wolfkin to your Lord instead of Bear, and you can buy a Wolf Guard for each Grey Hunter squad or have points for some Long Fangs.

Grey Hunters 155 Pts
Melta Gun, Razorback w/Lascannon+TwinLinked Plasma Guns

Grey Hunters 155 Pts
Melta Gun, Razorback w/Lascannon+TwinLinked Plasma Guns

Grey Hunters 155 Pts
Melta Gun, Razorback w/Lascannon+TwinLinked Plasma Guns

ThunderWolf Cavalry 270Pts
3 Thunderwolves, 3 Storm Shields, 1 Thunder Hammer

ThunderWolf Cavalry 270Pts
3 Thunderwolves, 3 Storm Shields, 1 Thunder Hammer

You can probably just give one guy melta bombs, one guy a storm shield, and another a thunder hammer and rely on wound allocation madness rather than give everyone storm shields if you are looking to shave points. Granted, I like the imagery of the whole squad having shields, so if that's what you're going for cool. Otherwise, you might still consider swapping the Thunderhammer for a FrostBlade and Melta Bombs on one guy for the same reasons as on the Wolf Lord.

Fenrisian Wolf Pack 80Pts
10 Wolf Pack

I think you need either a predator, vindicator, or some Long Fangs to add some heavy punch to this list. The Fangs might be too static given the mobility of the rest of the list, but a Dakka predator or a Vindicator I think would mix in nicely, maybe even a hidden Whirlwind in case you face some hordes. If you drop that Battle Leader you can find the points.
