Expensive hobby, this we all know and live with. Rest assured there is no coin behind our sofas. But just what is the most expensive 1000pts a gamer could field in a regular game of 40k. You can include forge world components, but must be legal in regular 40k.

Do the sisters of battle automatically have this? or deathwing maybe?

how about an all infantry force of Death Korps, with no upgrades or anything. thats like 200 men, about £600 ish

Forgeworld makes it good,
but Has anyone costed out a Nurgle/Bloodcrusher list for Daemons??
Between that and Airborne Vostroyans, I think we may have a winner! :)

24 models...$345

2 Ten strong Wraithguard with spirtseers 798 points (count as troops)
2 Farseers built using the 202 points left.

Wraithguard ar $15 each, get the rest from a Seer council box at $45.

Not the most expensive...but daaaaaaamn.

edit: then add another 10 wraithguard, & 3 Wraithlords for another $273.75
and you have a 2000pt Ilyanden force for $618.75...with only 38 figures.

$16.28 per mini.

An Ork 'Grots' army.
For all 6 troops made of metal 'rebel grots', its cost is over $570; and that's still less then 700 points. Even in pastic, it's $270.
A SAG Mek, to lead, is another $30.
Plus fill in the rest with killa kans or Artillery batteries ($60-$80 per 100 points).

Edit: Aldramelech, the common conversion can be done for ~$55 a pop

How about a Deathwing army made from out-of-print original Space Hulk Terminators? Last I saw the original Space Hulk was $250-$400 and that only gives you a few of them.

3 Eldar Heavy Weapon Platforms are $100, that would make for a good start.

you beat me to it mate :)

Here in australia the wraithguard cost $25 au per model, which is the equivalent to $12.5 GBP
So for us its even more expensive. It works out to about $550 AU or $225 BGP

Throw in 3 wraithlords and with some spiritseers and you push it up to $800 Aud or $400 GBP

Imo thats very expensive considering nothing is actually from Forgeworld, its all just GW minis

I think entendre may be on the right track. Lemme see if I can price out what one squad would be for Vostroyan, assuming we take the minimum upgrades:

Company Command
Company Command Squad $35 Pts 50

Platoon Smirnoff
Command Smirnoff : $35 Pts: 30

Infantry Squad A w/ Heavy Bolter: $35 Pts: 60
Infantry Squad B w/ Heavy Bolter: $35 Pts: 60
Heavy Weapons Squad A 3x Mortar $51 Pts: 60
Heavy Weapons Squad B 3x Mortar $51 Pts: 60

Totals $207 Pts: 270

Platoon Drago
Command Drago: $35 Pts: 30

Infantry Squad A w/ Heavy Bolter: $35 Pts: 60
Infantry Squad B w/ Heavy Bolter: $35 Pts: 60
Heavy Weapons Squad A 3x Mortar $51 Pts: 60
Heavy Weapons Squad B 3x Mortar $51 Pts: 60

Totals $207 Pts: 270

Platoon Stolichnaya
Command Stoli: $35 Pts: 30

Infantry Squad A w/ Heavy Bolter: $35 Pts: 60
Infantry Squad B w/ Heavy Bolter: $35 Pts: 60
Heavy Weapons Squad A 3x Mortar $51 Pts: 60
Heavy Weapons Squad B 3x Mortar $51 Pts: 60

Totals $207 Pts: 270

Platoon Lenin
Command Lenin: $35 Pts: 30

Infantry Squad A w/ Heavy Bolter: $35 Pts: 60
Infantry Squad B w/ Heavy Bolter: $35 Pts: 60

Totals $105 Pts: 150

It comes in a little over on points 1010, but clocks in at a whopping $761.
Yikes.

Tallarn Forgeworld Rough Riders. Roughly a Pound and a Half a point. 1500 pounds for 1000 points.

I think old school all metal guard armies take the prize home for the most pricey armies under the sun

It doesn't say that anywhere.
It says including forgeworld, but only stuff legal in normal 40K.

I bet you could make Nids really expensive.
Use rippers as your only troops (buying them individually in metal, buying gaunt/warrior boxes just for the rippers, or getting the forgeworld ones)

Led by a Flyrant (forgeworld, or the metal one and buying dragon/balrog wings)

All the fast attack maxed out with Gargoyles (~$17 for two). It's almost $350 for 3 broods of 14 goyles each.

If you are ignoring the Forgeworld goodness, anything that is a metal models, i'm thinking Grey Knights here, though they are expensive points wise so I'm not sure

Gretchin army WOULD have been expensive up to this year... i'm going to say a Nurgle Daemon army.

Buy an army of forge world models off ebay. from forge world it will be well over £100/$100 but from ebay the bidding you won't want to think about
