I am lucky enough to be gifted a wolf Class titan and was wondering if anyone knows if there is a definitive list of the legions and their colour schemes out there?
My google fu is not that good, I pretty much came up with:
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/List_of_Titan_Legions

I was really wondering how legions are made and composed, and if anyone has advice on the matter @(esp. painting large flat areas - my highlights are drybrushing and ink washes for shades, that tends to stop working on large pieces.)

I was considering yellow and black diagonal bands for the shoulders, maybe substituting black for another colour (Ice blue? Striking scorpion green? doing a 1mm band seperation of white or red between bands?)
I was figuring on doing the yellow first - possibly undercoat white and using the Old Yellow Ink (with a dash of chestnut and even less varnish) but it may look like it'll be hit by a banana.

I've also been told to make the base very solid, and to drill the leg joints with 2mm pins, twice per joint all the way through as the weight'll make it sag.

Any other advice / ideas / examples of paint schemes / history / background on titans? all appreciated.

Edit: Oh, forgewold, unlike previous orders got everything in good nick (minor expected work, in fact alot less than expected), all present, and within 3 days. I expected 3 months minimum wait. Gobsmacked. Are they under new management?

There are printable logos and paint-scheme-guides for 4 loyalist and 2 renegade titan legions over on BoLS, just in case you haven't got a copy of the Adeptus Titanicus book.

Hope that helps.

There is actually very little in the way of official titan order information about. The most complete source I've seen is this PDF here: http://www.epic40k.co.uk/force/titanorders.pdf

Many Orders were simply described, never pictured, as GW had a few in Adeptus Titanicus and Space Marine (handily covered in the BoLS link above), but seldom showed any anywhere else.

If you're painting a Titan use an airbrush or rattlecan and mask off the areas with tape. The surface is too large to do with a brush and look smooth, especially if you're using white or yellow. The Inner Geek has a good blog (http://seemyinnergeek.blogspot.com/search/label/Reaver Titan) where he made his Reaver. I also logged my progress on the same kit (http://milleniumgate.net/index.php?showtopic=459).

Lots of pinning, a solid base, and paint as much as you can before assembly are the three key points for putting one togther.

I have had my Chaos Warhounds legs assembled for over a year now and havent had a problem with the legs sagging as yet (but it is something that has me concerned). Ive put it on a base and have just used normal Selleys Superglue. As for other advice.....

A nice solid base is definately a good idea. While it is possible you position your Titans stance so that it can stand on its own, a little table bump is sure to see the top heavy model crash over.

Ive used quite a few magnets (42 if memory serves), for everything from the waist up. Just makes storage so much easier.

One thing I thought of AFTER I assembled it, instead of normal Superglue, use the shock resistant stuff. Its a little more gel like, but if your patient with it during assembly, it should be fine.

Carnt wait to see some pictures (get mine up when I get stuck back into it).
