IG Special Weapons - Halp!

I'm currently working out a Traitor Guard build and am trying to figure out where in the hell people get their IG meltaguns? $8.50 each at thewarstore.com?! That dog won't hunt monsignor.

The only problem with the metal ones are the weight, so be careful that you don't do any funky poses or you'll have to weight the bottom. I hit up my buddies with their SM armies for extra plastic bits for mine..

Yeah I mainly scavenge off SM and CSM players. Just chop the little spiky stuff off the CSM meltas and they're good enough

As I'm doing Traitor Guard to go with my Red Corsairs, the spiky bits would actually be good.

For special weapons, pick up some of the Eylesian ones from forgeworld. Plenty of options with them and you can have some with a bi-pod.

Hitting up your friends for the melta guns is always a plus too.

Yes, but that's not exactly an economical way to get the 6 meltaguns and 8 plasma guns that I want for my 4 Veteran Squads and Company Command Squad.

I bought the apocalypse box of infantry a few years back... Its getting painted now... My hands hurt....

I convert mine using the Cadian flamers.
Snip off the flamer heads and replace with a 4mm styrotube.

there are resin ones that have resperators one melta gun and one plasma gun. @ $15.00 US

I've done three conversions so far.

On the left is the grenade launcher arm from the Cadian Command Squad sprue, with the weapon replaced by a meltagun that I stole from the SM Command Squad Sprue.

In the middle is my first flamer conversion. I cut the flamer off where the two tubes start up, and then glued on half of a multi-melta head. My problem with this conversion is that I ended up cutting off the part of the flamer that the support hand attaches to. So there was some finagaling to get it lined up right.

On the right is my second type of flamer conversion. This time I preserved the support hand attachment point, and used putty to fill in the gap. I like this one the best, and its probably the one that I'll keep using. There are plenty of plastic multi-meltas in the SM arsenal you can probably scavenge from your friends, and all IG players probably have more flamer arm sets than they know what to do with.

For the plasma guns, I would probably go with a similar technique. Perhaps plasma pistols could provide the plasma looking part, grafted onto a flamer or grenade launcher.

Post your results. I'd be interested to see other flamer to melta/plasma conversions out there.
