That...is some of the most amazing terrain I've ever seen for a tournament.

That...is some of the most amazing terrain I've ever seen for a tournament.

That terrain was not for any "tournament" per say. It was for Iron Arena. Iron Arena is a format of open play for the entire weekend. You register, grab any opponent, then go play. Each table had a specific scenario associated with it. You and your opponent would decide on the points value and play a game. At the end, you would go and report the game. You would get "Iron Skulls" (tickets) for playing a game, winning the game, different opponent, opponent from a different state/country, win by scenario, etc. You could then trade in your tickets for prizes- everything from Privateer Press bandannas, coffee cups, dice to Battlefoam Bags, signed artwork, signed rulebooks, etc.

The Ironclad statue was actually made at about 66% scale. A real Ironclad is 12'3" tall and weighs six tons (from Prime, MK II rulebook page 115). This one was a little over 9' tall. And while it didn't weight 6 tons, lugging it up the back stairs because it wouldn't fit in the elevator made it feel more like 12 tons. :D

Lock and Load was a great event, and we'll be expanding it for next year! We had anticipated a little over 200 people, and over 400 showed up. With over 120 gaming tables to play on, people were actually waiting in line to play! We emptied out all the terrain in the warehouse to fill all those tables, and the Thralls are busy making new terrain for next year.

If you get the chance, anyone interested in Lock and Load should go next year. The entire Privateer Press staff, from the Owner Matt Wilson all the way down to the warehouse metal casters/packers, they were all there and they were all answering questions, leading seminars, and even playing games!

Hope to see you all there next year!

I don't know if you read No Quarter, but one of the coolest things about the terrain is that PP gives some of the best comprehensive tutorials I've ever read regarding making terrain.

If Privateer compiled a "best of" terrain building from past issues of NQ into a "Terrain of Immoren" book, I'd buy it in a flat heartbeat to have it all in one place.

It was a great event, brought me into downtown Seattle for the first time! Didn't like the parking...

Heck yeah - I still own both the terrain building guides that GW released. Those things are great, and one compiling all the PP stuff would be even cooler.

I haven't read NQ in a long time. Mostly because there's no close lgs to go pick a copy up.

I really just need to get the subscription. :)

And yeah, I would so totally buy a book compilation of their terrain making guides...

I was there, and along with Ayden (b00ts) was able to take a whole load of pictures and upload them to Lost Hemisphere. Check them out if you want to see a bunch more stuff.
