Alright so here's what I think I want to do.

Create a Finnish Army mainly because I think they're cool but also because from what I've seen they use both Soviet and German equipment. I personally think creating an Infantry Company with maybe some support might help. Yet, I don't know what type of Intelligence Handbook I'll need or how to really create to army.

What do you think the best is to go about starting a Finnish Army?

Greetings McFarlane,

Noticed you were from Delaware... not sure if you've made it up to The Ice House Warriors game club there in Newark. Quite a few people play Flames of War there, and from what I've seen they have a very solid community. They regularly meet Sundays from noon till about 6 PM and Monday nights from roughly 6 to 9. I'd recommend dropping by there if your able, should be plenty of qualified people to help you out!http://www.meetup.com/Icehouse-Warriors/

FWIW, the first thing you will need to do is decide which period you want to play, Mid or Late War. That will determine the handbook you need to use for a Finnish army. For Late War there are two - one for the 1944 conflict vs the Soviets and one for the Lapland conflict vs the Germans:

http://www.flamesofwar.com/Portals/0/Documents/Briefings/Late-War-Finns.pdf

http://www.flamesofwar.com/Portals/0/Documents/Briefings/Lapin-Sota-Finns.pdf

If you want special characters for these lists there are these:

http://www.flamesofwar.com/Portals/0/Documents/Briefings/Late-War-Finn-Warriors.pdf

For Mid War (1942-43) there is the official list in the Eastern Front book as well as this Briefing (the article also has links to a painting guide, history and equipment:

http://www.flamesofwar.com/Default.aspx?tabid=108&art_id=1906&kb_cat_id=18

Basically you just need to pick a period, then choose one of the lists to see what you like.

Cheers, Gary

Greetings,

I'm actually in the process of selling my Finnish army to consolidate my FoW collection. It would be US$125 + shipping for the whole force (minus 1 infantry platoon already sold). If you're interested, you can look here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/64670504@N06/

The force consists of:
1 Infantry Platoon
1 Mortar Platoon
1 HQ
1 K/02 Battery + Full Staff
2 PaK40s
+ Assorted unpainted FoW Finnish figures (heavy mortars + some crew)
+3 Stugs, 1 ISU 152, 3 T34/85s and 2 Stalinet Tractors from Gaming Models
+x2 Finnish Tokens

Seeing how the models are already painted and based (though you would obviously be free to redo them), this would be a great way to start out FoW for a great price (slightly under retail). The only unit you would need to add is 1 more infantry platoon. If you have any interest or questions, please e-mail me at [email protected]

The good news in my opinion for Finish is not only that they use both soviet and german equip, but also you can bulid your army for Mid and Late in one proces. Of course they have a difrences but in general Infranty forces in mid don't have so many panzerfaust (panzershreck) insted they have At rifle or Molotov Close defence team. But maine army will b:
Light Inf Comp
HQ + Addition's
2-3 plooton's (One recce)
4 T-28
2 Kv-1
some arty
some mortars

FOR mid tanks cost more points but you have all you must IMHO
