"Rites of Battle" and transports

I play BT for a while now and have heard of an FAQ that states that a model (I think the FAQ refers to Psykers) riding in a transport doesn´t count as "on the field".

The BT Marshal grants all BT units in ur army to use his ld value as long as "being on the field". Can I use this specialrule while the Marshal is in transport. What about fire points?

If I recall correctly thats an old ruling, embarked models count as being wherever the transport is in 5th, with ranged effects being measured from its hull.

So table wide bonuses work so long as the transport he is in is on the table.
