Just posted on my blog last night a small blurb about how to paint Hakanor's Reavers from the CSM Codex.
Take a look and tell me what you think.

I love the idea of the lava-like armor and the painting does a pretty convincing job of supporting it. The lines of orange on the legs aren't too sharp so they have a slightly liquid look to them.

Well done.

Just an idea, but it'd look awesome if their bases had lava that snakes up their legs. Make it look like their fused to the magma or something.

Very nice.

I second the opinion about tying the leg detail into the bases, really give them a daemon look.

Anyone interested in painting Harkanor's Reavers might want to check out a tutorial I did a couple years back it seems now over at the B&C, which seems to be down right about now...

I stumbled across yours back when I was looking for some guidelines on how to do mine. I really liked the look you did, but decided to try to figure out a way to paint 'em on my own in the end.
You're have a very slick "liquidly" feel to them. I really like 'em.

It's good someone is using it. I did it write after the latest CSM Codex came out. I did another renegade chapter. I'd do more painting tutorials but I don't have time and energy. I've painted a lot of black power armor since that model and I have my edge highlighting down pretty good. My secret seems to be I use Foundry Paints for my black highlighting now.

People seem to like this conversion for more than just the highlights...

The color scheme is my own renegade chapter the Nefarious Fire.

That purple has a very insidious look to it. Sweet.
You do hard lining for your highlights I take it? Shamefully, I'm far too lazy to do that... A quick drybrush is more to my liking. lol. That and hardlining always seemed a bit daunting to me.... I should probably give it a shot since my painting abilities have come along way since my last time.
