Getting into this in a big way, I've bought 4 armies and a lot of terrain (not to mention the rules and special dice which I will admit are very expensive), all financed from the sale of two painted armies.

So here is the first army, The Normans:

Added 4 more Hearthguard with Dane axes, will do the same for the non axe armed ones as well.

Very pretty. Not what I expected though, misread the title as 'sago'. Pleasantly surprised.

How's the ruleset? Saw the playthrough in an issue of Wargames Illustrated and have been wanting to look at them, but can't bring myself to blind purchase them. (FLGS here doesn't have a source for Gripping Beast.) Other than that, love the models. Are those the GB plastics?

Rules are really good fun, innovative yet elegant in their simplicity. For such a relatively simple set the tactical complexity is astounding.

The figures are a mixture of GB, Wargames Factory, Conquest Games, Crusader Miniatures and Old Glory, I like to shop around :).

Not quite finished yet. Got the Scottish bloke that arrived this morning, Girls, Monk, Sheep, Pigs, fences and 8 mounted Conquest Normans to turn into Bretons.

Only just noticed these buddy, very skilled. I am always trying to get viking-esque emblems and shields onto my Space Wolf fellas. I hereby give notice of my intent to plagiarise from these pictures mercilessly.

Cheers EG.

They're plastic believe it or not, from a company called Conquest games, bloody good value for money.

Apologies for the necroposting here, but I figured it would make more sense to post here than start a brand new thread...
So my FLGS here in the States finally got a copy of Saga a couple months back. Ended up picking it up as well as the first expansion. While not planning on such huge forces as yours, I've got an Anglo-Dane, Anglo-Saxon (because they are sooo different in looks...) and Viking Warband on the workbench. A buddy of mine is planning on Scots, using a mix of Viking and Pictish figures. I'll be curious how it'll turn out.
Aside from that I was pondering running Dwarfs as Anglo-Danes and Orcs and Goblins as Anglo-Saxons for a stand-in until my actual historical figures are ready.

If your looking for figures for Saga try Foundy with their over stock sell off some great deals, http://stores.ebay.co.uk/WARGAMES-FOUNDRY/_i.html?rt=nc&_sid=301062760&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1581&_pgn=1

It was from your comments on the Saga rules that got me looking at them so thanks and thought would return the favour with this link.
