...and it was awesome!

Epic is indeed as cool as I hoped it would be. My marines played like space marines, goshdarnit, especially when one tactical detachment turned aside an entire Orky Kult of Speed. Hell, yes -- this is more like it! :)

Anyway, more to follow (as I'm wiped out and trying to finish up some last-minute painting for the Badab Campaign) but just thought I'd let y'all know. :)

Also, special thanks to Jack for making the game happen AND bringing extra marine toys so I'd have a full range of awesomeness to play with (MVP: Thunderhawk with 2xDev & 2xAssault, all of which were provided by him...and which I used to finish off his Kult of Speed, too. :) )

Definitely looking forward to playing Epic more. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Nice

I am currently buying and painting Epic stuff to get back into it after somehow losing all my stuff years ago (id never throw it away...I can only think it got lost in a house move...arrghhh).

Its such a shame the game is more or less discontinued by Games Workshop...imo it could be a best seller still.

Great to hear you had a great game, brother, and that you smited the filthy xeno. Bravo! :)

And yes--I, too, fully dig the fact that, in Epic, marines feel like marines should.

Which version of Epic do you guys play?

I lost my old stuff and have been buying up things on ebay recently and have bought the old (i think) ver 2 of the rules...the one with the marines, landraider and titan on the box cover...and came with infantry on square bases. I THINK it is conisdered the most basic ruleset but im not sure.

Is there a better option or shall I just stick with what I have?

The "modern" version of epic is Epic:Armageddon. The picture on the front cover is of a warlord titan walking in the background with some Salamanders space marines in the foreground. You can actually download it for free from the GW website. Just go to the rules section of the Epic page in the specialist games area.

Yup, we used the Epic: Armageddon ruleset.

And it was -- in case you missed it -- awesome. :)
