Broodlords and patriarchs

It is my understanding that Genestealer Broodlords are the firts to make planet
fall to begin a cult. Does that mean a broodlord = a Genestealer patriarch?

I don't think GW has connected the two types of Genestealer fluffwise, but they certainly seem similar.

Yeah. I really hope genestealer cults are expanded in the next 40k Tyranid codex

My guess would be "yes." GW has been moving away from the "fat man on a throne" vision of the Patriarch for some time, and the Broodlord fits better into the current vision of the 'Nids.

However, we may have to wait for the next Codex to be sure...
