This Kickstarter thing is spreading it seems. Now Reaper are getting in on the act. they are trying to raise funds to greatly expand the range of their white plastic Bones range.

Details can be found here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1513061270/reaper-miniatures-bones-an-evolution-of-gaming-min

They are doing well. 1/6th of their initial goal met already.

I've pledged enough to get the Bones line and a Sophie succubus, I didn't want any of the more extravagent pledge things. I do hope they make a lot of their stretch goals. They just hit 30k so funding will go ahead.

Wait wait wait. They're doing the fire giants as Bones?

Well smack my azz and call me Susan, I may have to pledge just for those.

Though, FWIW, I was less impressed by the Bones line than I'd hoped I be. Now, they're still of pretty great quality for what they are, but the plastic is very much a "toy plastic."

C'est la vie. Still a great deal.

Yeah the Fire Giants was an eye opener, and that's just their 2nd stretch goal. Have a look at the graveyard pic they have up on the Kickstarter and you can see they've planned ahead for a lot more stretch goals to come, so who knows what else we'll see if this continues to go really well.

Hope Avatars of War are watching and taking notes, cos this is how you run a a successful Kickstarter campaign.

$12K overnight. I thought about it last night, and decided not to, but with the addition of the other minis, I HAD to do this. I love these minis. I was working for a distributor up until last month (my FLGS doubles as a distributor for REaper). I have a couple and they are awesome. These other minis look like a great bunch, and the Fire Giants just top it off.

Now if they'd only add the new Troll King from Dark Heaven.

Is it possible to contribute from the UK?

Yup, I've backed a couple Kickstarter's thus far and I'm in the UK. Some of the rewards for pledges state US/Canada only, but those tend to be the really expensive ones. Most state "Add X amount for International shipping", so be sure to add on top of the amount for the pledge you've picked.

I contacted them today requesting to withdrawal my rather large pledge.

Yeah I noticed on their Indiegogo page that people are starting to post comments asking for any news. A month after they should at least be able to post up some pics of the sculpts they've done thus far. Instead all we've seen from AoW in the past month is that 4-armed chaos champion, which was nothing to do with the Dwarf army fundraiser. Not at all surprised you want your money back. I doubt you're alone in that either.

They've just passed the first stretch goal at $50k, so the Fighters are a go. $70k goal will enable people on the Vampire & Undertaker packages to add 2 Fire Giants to their reward for the frankly amazing price of $10 (which is truly ridiculous when you think that to get those 2 figures in metal would set you back $58.48!)

The $90k stretch goal has been unveiled too, which is more Undead added to the Vamp/Undertaker packs for free.

I'm guessing Reaper paid close attention to the recently finished Sedition Wars Kickstarter that Mike McVey did, as they seem to have modelled their campaign very much like that one, which is no bad thing as it was VERY successful.

I wasn't going to pay extra for the Fire Giants but when you're saving that much over the metal models it just makes no sense not to.

Just hit 55k, averaging 27.5k a day at this point. Interesting to see how they keep it up, they have enough gravestones to get to 410k, I think, not sure if the big shrine thing counts as a stretch goal or not.

Brakkart
07-27-2012, 03:23 AM
Just went past the $70k mark so the Fire Giants are a go, next target is the undead at $90k and they've unveiled the stretch goal for the $115k mark, which is this rather nice looking dragon:

http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_EbonwrathReward.jpg

That's pretty big! He's 7 inches from tabletop to wingtip, 7.5 inches tail to nose, and has a 12 inch wingspan! Once this goal is met, to receive one of these bad boys, you'll need to increase your Vampire or Undertaker pledge by $10.

And to put him into proper perspective, if you were to buy Ebonwrath in metal he would set you back $69.99.

You can has indeed EG, cos it's gone past $115k now (actually past $120k at this point). So not only can Ebonwrath be added to peoples rewards, but they've unveiled the stretch goal for the $155k mark too:

http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_FrostGiantsReward.jpg

More Giants! And again to put them into perpsective, in metal a pair of these brutes would set you back $45.98.

I can't say I'm thrilled with the 155k stretch goal, but I really like the 135k goal. At the rate teh Kickstarter is going no doubt I'll end up with both. The giants I think might make good counts-as Vargheists for my VC army.

Brakkart

Nice looking figures those elves. I love the wizard in the pointy hood and the concept art pair, not so fond of the one with the weird loincloth though.

From the looks of it (and hints by Reaper) on the comments thread, the next stretch goal involves paints of some sort.

Brakkart
07-31-2012, 10:30 PM
It's gone past the $155k mark and so they have unveiled the $185k stretch goal rewards, as there's a couple to choose from:

http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_PaintReward1.jpg

The first set is a basic colors set, perfect for beginners or intermediate painters who want more of the popular colors. To receive this reward, increase your pledge by only $18 (MSRP $39.48). That's only $1.50 a bottle! Grow your paint collection, or start a new one with these amazingly high-quality paints.

http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_PaintReward2.jpg

The second set is 12 Undead-themed colors of master Series Paint created expressly for this Kickstarter. Add these to your reward by increasing your pledge by only $18 (MSRP $39.48). That's only $1.50 a bottle!

Apparently these will be available to retailers after the pledge rewards are sent out, so no danger of running out of a limited edition paint half way through a set of figures.

And did we mention that this reward is open to Pledges of all levels? No matter what level you pledged – if you add $18, we'll include this set of paint!

Pretty cool and I'm really hating that I have no money to back this (being unemployed really sucks!), cos damn this is a Kickstarter I'd love to be in on.

They just went past the $185k mark and so have revealed what the stretch goal for the $215k is:

http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_Orcpocalypse2.jpg

Availiable to all the pledge rewards levels. Nice figures and actually within my meagre budget, so I might be tempted to grab these. I'll wait till near the end of the drive though and see what other figures come up. A pack of dark elves/drow would be pretty sweet.

08-03-2012, 02:26 AM

It's hit the $205k mark now and so they have revealed the stretch goal for the $235 mark:

http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_KlockeReward.jpg

Some very nice figures in there!

Currently for a $100 pledge (+$25 P+P if you don't live in the USA/Canada), you get all of this:

http://s3.amazonaws.com/ksr/assets/000/098/761/9fd766eeb1ab84f6857623acc478f1c8_large.jpg?1344098 953

Pretty impressive and if the drive continues the way it is going, they say that there will be plenty more added to it still.

Yep, 93 miniatures for 100USD is really rather good, and as you say there is more to come. Factor in the extras you can pledge for and get for something like 20% of the current metal price (Giants and dragon etc) it really is a fantastic kickstarter. I really want those Klocke sculpts.

215 met, Orcpocalypse is go, and the 260 stretch goal is revealed:
http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_ManorsReward.jpg

This Option adds not two, but three gorgeous sculpts by Tre' Manor! The Ogre Warchief, Ettin, and Gnoll Archer may be added to your Vampire or Undertaker level pledge simply by increasing your pledge by $10! Yes - $10 for all 3! This is a great way to add some large monsters that aren't giants or dragons to your battlefield!
Some rather nifty large monsters by Tre Manor of Red Box Games. This is one of the things I love about Reaper, they have lots of sculpts by many of the best names in the biznis.

Brakkart
08-05-2012, 02:40 AM
I love that Ettin figure, and the Ogre is really good too. Never been a big fan of Gnolls (though I do love killing them in D&D Online!). Gutted that I can't afford to partake in this Kickstarter cos the value is insanely good, but I will be able to get these figures piecemeal once it's done and they are on regular sale. And yeah a lot of the best sculptors have worked for Reaper, often doing so while they establish a name and reputation and then founding their own company, ie Werner Klocke, Tre Manor etc.

eldargal
08-05-2012, 02:57 AM
I have fond memories of killing gnolls in Baldurs Gate. I'm thinking of using the ogre as a counts-as spirit host for my VC army, painted all ghostly.

Could you not borrow the money, or sell a kidney or something?:p

Brakkart
08-05-2012, 04:02 AM
You're going to have a very strange (though pretty cool) looking VC army at this rate, what with Giants and Ogres and such as substitutes for various monsters.

And while technically I could sell a kidney (I still have both of mine), the pessimist in me just knows that just days after selling one, the other would give up working. Better safe than sorry.

I still play Baldur's Gate from time to time, a friend hooked me up with a mod for it called Baldur's Gate Trilogy, where the whole saga (and loads of extra content) is all in one game. It's very cool!

eldargal
08-05-2012, 04:41 AM
Hehe, yep. I was going to keep it much more focused but reading about the variety of Lahmians in Bloodsworn has inspired me to be a bit more adventurous with model choices. Vampire giants for vargheists, ghostly monsters for spirit hosts etc. Even thinking of having my main Vampire Countess riding a ghost dragon (counts as zombie dragon). Rather hoping that Reaper Bonesifies their Kyra and Lavarath sculpt so I can use that.

I'll have to check that mod out, thanks.:)

They've hit the $235k mark now and have revealed new rewards for the $285k mark:

http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_TownsfolkReward.jpg

http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_CaseReward.jpg

Vampires, You will take your reward up from 97 miniatures to 102 with these 5 townsfolk. The barman, serving gal, maid, strumpet, and mother and her child will be added automatically to your Vampire or Undertaker pledge level as soon as we reach this level of funding!

And for everybody, at any level of support, can now have this hard plastic miniature carrying case by increasing your pledge by only $25. It comes with 6 pieces of foam, cut to fit over 100 miniatures! (Add +$5 Shipping for international pledges, unless your current level already pays more than $5 for shipping.) Outrider Hobbies designed the foam, and prototypes are shown in the picture. We will post pictures of the final product as soon as we are able. Additional designs to fit this case, including designs that hold Reaper Master Series Paint, tools, or larger figures can be ordered through foamcorps.com

I really like those townsfolk figures, they have a lot of character in them.

eldargal
08-06-2012, 10:33 PM
Ha, more models I was going to buy anyway. Love this kickstarter. It also means that excluding international shipping the cost per miniature drops under one dollar. I'm not familiar with Outrider Hobbies, are their cases good quality? 25 seems a very reasonable price if it is good quality.

Someone on the Bones comments section made a comparison with the Sedition Wars KS, and apparently Reaper has 400 more pledges and 80k more pledged than Sedition Wars had at the same time, and it finished with 1.2mil. Nifty if accurate, even more nifty if the Reaper KS maintains that ratio with Sedition Wars to the end.

Another day another stretch goal blown away. They've passed through the $260k mark now and have thus revealed what the stretch goal for $310k is:

http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_FireReward.jpg

These Four models will be added to the Vampire and Undertaker pledge levels, but with a twist! These figures won't be made in our usual Bones Polymer, but a transparent orange! The Wall of fire, Flaming Sphere, Medium and Large Fire Elementals will be an intimidating sight on any table!

Interesting and not at all what I was hoping for (would love to see some Dark Elves or Mind Flayers personally).

08-07-2012, 11:20 PM
I wasn't expecting fire elementals either, but I quite like the look of them. The coloured plastic is nifty, I know a lot of people who hate painting fire that will be very pleased with them. Personally I'll probably paint them anyway.

I'm rather hoping the big winged gravestone will reveal Gauth:

Bryan from Reaper just posted this:

We have our list of molds we wish to include in this project, but have more molds and stretch goals that are likely (we can carry this to 4 Million without another planning meeting). But as each goal is defined by the $ needed to reach it, we can move goals around - think of refrigerator magnets on a whiteboard like you see in TV executive planning movies. Any mold that doesn't become part of this project simply becomes next on the list.

In addition, at any given point in time the next 3 goals are locked, so I can get the graphics ready. At this time, everything to the Crypt is locked, and the first 2 goals after the crypt, as well. By Monday, everything to the end of the under-crypt map will be locked, and we'll begin tacking into place the third map. It seems weird, but ti gives us the ability to adapt and react, just not quite in real time.

And

Unlocking the the crypt door is one goal. When the time comes, we will reveal that goal. When it is achieved, the door will open and we will begin to work on the tomb inside, opening those sarcophagi/coffins.
Squee? Squee. Squeee!

At the current rate this map will take the project through to around 430k assuming 2k for each step on average. Another map would bring it to 860k, which may seem like a lot but Sedition Wars hit 920k and it had fewer backers and less funds pledged at the same point in time.

Brakkart
08-08-2012, 09:38 AM
All very interesting and great news. To have potential goals planned ahead as far as $4 million shows that they've put a lot of thought into this campaign. I'm so stoked that a company I love so much is doing so well.

eldargal
08-08-2012, 10:15 AM
Quite so, they planned it very well and must have been taking notes on what worked and what didn't with other KS campaigns. Bones has been executed perfectly, they have even managed to avoid the mid-campaign slump the others all had. So far, anyway. Yesterday was their second best day ever. Really happy for Reaper.

It's good for the customer, too. At current prices the 98 models you get at Vampire level would be worth well over 300USD. Even at Bones prices (1.50-2.50 each) it would be around 200. Then you have the optional extras:
Ebonwrath: Bones 10USD / Current 69.99
Frost Giants: Bones 10USD / Current 45.98
Fire Giants: Bones 10USD / Current 58.48
Mind your Manors: Bones 10USD / Current 44.97

Current total: 219.42USD
Bones KS price: 40USD

The KS Bones prices will be around half the final RRP apparently.

It just hit 280k, five k more and the townsfolk and cases are funded.

Brakkart
08-08-2012, 02:20 PM
Okay $285 goal met so Townsfolk are a go, and here's the goal for $340k and wow is it a good one:

http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_DragonsReward.jpg

There Be Dragons! Every map has that part marked on it, warning weary travelers not to go beyond, but we stand here, daring you to! When we reach this level of funding, Vampire and Undertaker level backers can add both of these Dragons, the sinuous Shadow Dragon, and the vile Fire Dragon, to their pledges by increasing their pledge by $15. Each Dragon is over 3" tall, and would count as Huge in the world's oldest Fantasy RPG.

Fire Dragon usual price is $32.99 and the Shadow Dragon's usual price is $29.99 so $15 for both is bloody crazy!

I'm glad to see everybody taking an interest over here! And yall certainly have some good guesses. The 340 goal is amazing, and we aren't far from 310 now either, 301k as I write this. It wasn't even 285 when I went to bed!

I think you've done a brilliant job at picking what sculpts to include so far. For me in particular, despite owning many Reaper sculpts only a handful of those selected I already have but nearly half were on my want list and there are none that I feel indifferent to.:)

http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_DemonsReward.jpg

A lot of you had guessed Rauthuros would be included, but those sneaky demons wouldn't allow us to give out just one! Agramon the Pit Fiend is available as well, and Vampire and Undertaker level backers can receive both of them by just increasing their pledge by $15! That's TWO massive demons for $15!! I can hear your players fainting already!

I even guessed Agramon might be the winged headstone, but didn't expect both him and Rauthuros!

Nifty scale pic!
http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_DemonScale.jpg

Also in addition to those two very nice figures, they've added this lot as additional options to your pledge:

http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_EXTRA_COPIES_370k.jpg

It's an amazing deal, 82 dollars worth of demon at current prices for just 15. I don't even particularly need them and I'm still getting them. Rauthuros might make a particularly fearsome statue for a terrain piece if nothing else.

If you look at this website (http://greg.botch.com/bones/), which I may have linked before, it gives a breakdown of the current metal values of the pledges. Vampire is:

Vampire ($100 pledge): $428.97 + 14 new sculpts + Sophie (priceless)
If you factor in all the optional choices unlocked so far for an extra 55 you are getting another three hundred dollars worth of miniatures. The savings in total are over 600USD over the current price.

Brakkart, good idea, just be careful to work out who gets what from the original batch of thirty first so there are no arguments.:p

Had to happen eventually that they would put one up that I was indifferent too I suppose. Not liking this dragon at all. I don't like the pose, or the dragons rear legs which I look at and think "Ohh chicken".

On the plus side one of my Pathfinder RPG group is getting a Vampire pledge, so I'm going to give him some money to get me a couple of the add on's (and see if I can convince him to part with the mini Elminster dwarf wizard too). If I'm really lucky I might be able to get the Mimic but as he is a GM too I kind of doubt he'll want to part with that one.

Glad you're going to be able to get some of the things you want.:) I've managed to pursuede two others in my DnD Club to pledge for Vampire and most of the free things but the rest say they have miniatures for their PCs already and don't need anymore, and those that play WFB and whatnot say they don't need more characters either.

The $435k goal was duly met and so the strech goal for the Crypt has been revealed at long last. Set at $525k it consists of the following:

http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_ChronoReward.jpg

We're ready now to launch an entire new line of Bones Miniatures – Chronoscope Bones!

We'll begin by awarding Vampire Level pledge backers 1 of each of these 10 fine Chronoscope miniatures! Cowboys, Sci-fi soldiers, Steampunk, Modern, and a cybernetic gorilla! Who doesn’t need a cybernetic gorilla? This Stretch Goal will bring the number of Bones miniatures in Vampire to 127, with 1 metal Sophie.

http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_MRBONESReward.jpg

Mister Bones will be automatically added to any Pledge Level that is receiving a Bones or Case shipment when we fulfill the final shipment.

http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_UndeadGiantReward.jpg

Vampire and Undertaker Level backers may add this colossal Skeletal Undead Giant to their rewards by increasing their pledge by $10.

All rather interesting and there's a couple figures in the Chronoscope Bones range there that I wouldn't mind getting.

Also, just because, a picture of one of my favourite sculpts in the Reaper range, avilable in transluecent Bones already:

I do like that Shoggoth-esque thing in the Mythos picture (top right), but the other two are boring (well Cthulhu is boring in general compared to the other deities/creatuers), if they add in more mythos crtiters i may end up pledging towards this. I already got several of their purple worms and was pleased with how dirt-cheap and high-quality they were. Excellent range in general.

Yeah the Mythos Monsters are pretty neat, they are a Shoggoth, Faceless Horror and a Star Spawn of Cthulhu (he's way too small to be Cthulhu himself).

I like the marine girl with the uber gun!

Alright... this is getting to be too good of a deal to pass up... I really like the IMEF Marines but I also like the Elves, Dwarves, and the Classics models...

I may have to add the Fire & Frost giants too as I really like those sculpts as well.

They hit the $525k goal a few mins ago and have revealed the next target set at $605k:

http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_BedevilledReward.jpg

And now here's some more free fantasy miniatures, added directly to your Vampire or Undertaker Level pledge – and it's 4 great devils! A Marilith, and three vile Hellborn, a rogue, a fighter, and a mage, added to your Vampire or Undertaker Level rewards when we reach this goal! That's now 137 miniatures!

And also this awesome option:

http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_ClockwerkReward.jpg

And for you Chronoscope fans – How about your very first DRAGON? The beautiful and dangerous Clockwork Dragon will be sculpted to be about the same size as Deathsleet – 7 inches high, almost a foot long nose to tail, and with massive wings! Concept and sculpt by Talin, this bad boy is going to be massive – and awesome! Just increase your Vampire or Undertaker pledges by $15, and he's yours!

All very cool indeed!

I thought it would be useful to post up a summary of where this is at right now, as the range of options and such on offer is getting rather long. By far and away the best value for money is the $100 Vampire level pledge (+$25 for International shipping) for which you currently get all of this:

http://s3.amazonaws.com/ksr/assets/000/115/598/63ebad411a3047b1636ca811f4496c1f_large.jpg?1345059 425

This then unlocks the right to add any of these options to your pledge for the amounts listed:

http://s3.amazonaws.com/ksr/assets/000/115/600/4147060e049338c1d16efa01038dafc6_large.jpg?1345059 453

In addition any level pledge (including Vampire) can add these options to their pledge for the amounts listed:

http://s3.amazonaws.com/ksr/assets/000/111/144/228bc11dabdc3f33b2ceec13436a20c0_large.jpg?1344830 273

All of which combines to make this one of the best value Kickstarters I've ever followed. Also one of the most fun to follow, as I'm loving seeing the map unfold as goals are met and new ones set.

Also, to go with the pictures Brakkart posted, if you buy the basic Vampire level and nothing else you save 443USD and more. If you buy Vampire and everything else excluding paints and cases you are sppending 200 and saving 858USD. Not including new sculpts like the Clockwork Dragon and various smaller figures.

It is incredible value.

Ohh and because I love Pathfinder's take on goblins and cos it's cool, I present the creepy song they like to chant as they raid and pillage:

The Goblin Song

Goblins chew and goblins bite,
Goblins cut and goblins fight,
Stab the dog and cut the horse,
Goblins eat and take by force!

Goblins race and goblins jump,
Goblins slash and goblins bump,
Burn the skin and mash the head,
Goblins here and you be dead!

Chase the baby, catch the pup,
Bonk the head to shut it up!
Bones be cracked, flesh be stewed,
We be goblins—you be food!

I'd be seriously tempted to get in on this if Reapers scale wasn't so god-awful. I stopped collecting their Dark Heaven line when it jumped from 25mm to nearly 40mm overnight. Yes I'm aware most of you beardlings prefer larger scale minis, but I'm an old AD&Der and have a rather sizable collection that the current Reaper figs just don't fit with. Their dwarves are twice the size of my Partha/Grenadier/Metal Magic dwarves. Bummer though as this is a hell of a deal

Re: scale, that is just Reaper responding to trends in the industry in general. Todays 28mm is yesterdays 25mm. It's not a huge problem except with some particularly archaic sculpts in my experience, my brothers have Dwarves from the late 70s in their armies for example, they are just short by Dwarf standards.

Ohh and they posted this up too:

NOTE: We're about to begin having only one active reveal at a time. It has been really exciting offering up 2 goals at once, but as we get closer to the final day, we want to be sure that we're focused and ready. Yup it went live in late June and it is awesome! Huge Forest, Underdark and Demonweb explorer areas, about 15 quests, 1 raid, Druid class added, level cap raised to 25 and a load more stuff. And proper D&D spider worshipping evil Drow, with Driders and all manner of demons. The priestesses are right nasty, when they get low on health they will sacrifice a nearby slave or even other drow to restore their health to full!

You can download the game client for free from: http://www.ddo.com/ and there's no monthly fee, you pay for what you want to pay for. And you can buy access to play as a drow, or unlock it by earning 400 favor points from running quests in the game (which is dead easy to do). No evil alignments allowed sadly, but can certainly look evil!

Already nearly 4k to the next goal lol. I agree the stretch goal ting is clever, glad they are leaving it 'til the last few days though. 5-6 more days of two goals.

They've said they are going to do that to avoid potentially having 2 goals left over at the end, if they only have 1 goal at a time to aim for, it allows them to tailor the end of the drive a lot better, plus it ramps up anticipation.

I need to get into MMORPGs.

DDO is a pretty good one to get into as there's no starting cost, the client is free to download and the game is free to play. You can try the game out and get a good feel for it before deciding whether to spend anything to buy access to extra classes/races or adventure packs, and as you do quests in the game so you earn favor points, every 100 favor you earn gets you points to spend in the games store for free. It's a very clever business model, so clever in fact that since DDO adopted it 3 years ago most of the other MMO's have moved towards it either in part or entirely.

And while I am horribly biased in saying this, it is insanely good fun!

There's Scorpions, Spiders, Beetles, and then 3 swarms, more beetles, more spiders, and more rats! Vampires will receive 2 copies of each miniature (as shown in the picture), and Undertakers will receive 4 copies of each (which is two of the picture!) This four pack of great modern-era character models will be included in your Vampire Level pledge when we meet this stretch goal. And what group of zombie hunters is complete without the chainsaw, the girl with two Uzis, the Pimp, and the Sheriff!

And this awesome beastie:

Brakkart
08-18-2012, 12:02 PM
While the figures for Seoni and Merisiel are awesome, my favourite by far of those 7 has to be Valeros (the male fighter with sword and dagger). Such a dynamic pose, taken right from the front cover of the Pathfinder Core Rulebook.

Amiri the Barbarian with the uber sword is also a favourite.

Chronowraith
08-18-2012, 01:58 PM
The Valeros one is good but I prefer my fighters with heavier armor. If I didn't know that was Valeros and he was a fighter I honestly don't know that I'd guess that as his primary class (although I wouldn't be surprised if he had rogue levels given his personality).

Amiri is indeed pretty awesome as well. I'm surprised they don't have Kyra in there personally.

So quick question... largely due to peer pressure from this board I went ahead and locked in my pledge level.

I see where I can alter my pledge level and amount but is there a way to pick out the optional selections I want now or does that come later? This is my first kickstarter event thingy (I would have done the Avatars of War one but it was too Dwarf-centric).

Basically, you just have to look at what options you want, calculate what the cost is, pledge that amount, and after the Kickstarter is done, Reaper will send you a survey where you can specify which options you wanted.

I'm surprised they don't have Kyra in there personally.

Yeah I am surprised to see Damiel the Alchemist and Feiya the Witch in there ahead of Ezren the Wizard and Kyra the Cleric, but Reaper have said that there is at least another Pathfinder goal planned, so with any luck the other iconics will be covered in that. Would like a pack of Pathfinder villains personally: Red Mantis Assassin, Hellknight, Gray Maiden, Sinspawn. The Hook Mountain Ogres would make for a good $10/15 option.

I'm hoping for Kyra on Lavarath myself.

Just to rub it in some more?

Do not wait to pledge!
Pledge for all of the Options or Levels you want now! Help everyone achieve the higher stretch goals by adding what you can! There is no way to specify these additions in the pledge manager however, after the project ends you will receive a backer survey via e-mail that will give you the ability to apply any additional amount for levels and options beyond your originally selected level. All Options and unlimited levels are unlimited. You can add to your pledge for as many as you want. Some Options require a minimum level to qualify for them. Kickstarter only allows you to choose one pledge level. If you would like to choose multiple levels, you need to select one of the levels you want. Then add the dollar amount required to receive all levels you want. Please note: Crown Jewels are unique items and limited in quantity. If you want one of the Crown Jewels, you must choose that level to lock in your choice, and then add the dollar amount of the other levels you want to your pledge. You can only select one limited level per Kickstarter account. That is their limitation, not ours. Several examples are listed below.
There is a pledge calculator somewhere too. Personally I just write everything down on a notepad. Columns with name, amount, price and total so when the survey comes I can jsut fill it in quickly and get everything I want.

The $860k goal was met a few hours ago and so the goal for a cool $1 million has been revealed:

http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_DeepDwellersReward.jpg

NOTE: We're about to begin having only one active revealed tomb at a time. It has been really exciting offering up 2 tombs at once, but as we get closer to the final day, we want to be sure that we're focused and ready. To that end, on Wednesday, we'll start showing only one tomb/goal at a time.

Can't say I'm that interested in this one really, but that's largely because I have no use for pirate mini's. I'm sure they will be popular though. The fishmen are cool however and would work well as Sahuagin in D&D/Pathfinder if you cut off the bit hanging over their head.

Muahaha actually ninja'ed the ninja!

Regarding the Realms, you can reach them at the later levels, there is a quest chain that starts at level 16 which provides the storyline for how Eberron and Abeir-Toril are now connected. It is a small chain of 4 quests, all free to play. At the moment the Realms are for levels 18+, but Turbine have said that they will be adding in lower level content there eventually (you are by far not alone in wanting to be able to play levels 1-25 there), but their primary focus is to add in more high level stuff first to support the increased level cap. There's a new expansion being added tomorrow in fact.

love that Ice Wyrm, the spider centaurs are cool but I'd have to change their feet (spiders have rounded feet with 2 little hooks in them which they use to grip onto things).

When the bones range came out some months ago, I was really happy to see a dirtcheap/good quality range like that but I never would of guessed it would grow to THIS much and at such a high speed too. The thing I love about this range is the sheer variety - there really is something for almost anyone here, and for the prices and quality it's excellent. My hat off to you Reaper.

There's more big monsters (that aren't dragons!) coming up – but we have to have something in our pockets for the next few days! In the meantime, enjoy these bonus reward miniatures, and go tell your friends about this great deal we're making together!

Some more Pathfinder Officially Licensed Bones! These four additional Iconics will be added to your Vampire or Undertaker level pledge when we meet this goal. You’ll get Ezren the wizard, Kyra the cleric, Lem the bard, and Seltyiel the Magus!

Bit disappointed to not have Lini the Gnome Druid and Droogami her Snow Panther really, would much rather have them than Lem the Halfling Bard. Still the others are all great figures.

There's more big monsters (that aren't dragons!) in the next reveal...

At the present time the total is at $1.33 million and the next reveal is at $1.42 million, 90k to go to see what will be the last goal on the map unveiled... arrggh.

I'm really glad to see a Kyra and Ezren figure out there. Agreed that Lem is a pretty lame choice but I guess they wanted a more stereotypical character. Not much call for gnome druid figures (still would be cool though).

FYI - If it doesn't roll over to 1.42 by the end of the day today the next reveal won't take place until it hits 1.42 as per the notification in the e-mails stating that as of Wednesday they will only do reveals for the next level instead of two levels out.

$1.54 million met. The next goal is at $1.79 million and the tease for the mini's it unlocks is this:

http://www.reapermini.com/misc/KS_WildThingsTeaser1Reward.jpg

So there's.. A Griffon! And not only is he free, but you can add more to your pledge to fill your Griffon Aramada for just $4!! And there's something else? And Something Else is a Bonus Miniature, too?? Yep! But there's a catch – Something Else will not be part of the $4 for the Griffon. Something Else (which we'll show you at $1,660,000) will be available completely separately! It's like getting two bonus minis, and two Options, and still not being shown a goal at all, just like we said! My head is spinning!

All very intriguing and that is a very nice Griffon figure. the header for the add-on is Wild Things, so my guess for the other mini is an Owlbear or Dire Bear (or some other form of bear, cos bears rock!)

Also the countdown to the end of the drive has now moved from days to hours and there's just 70 left at the time of writing...

I'm going to swap the Sophie out as well, probably for Nethyrmaul. I have no use for a miniature of a biker chick other than display and it would certainly be the odd-woman out in that department since all my other display models are either sci-fi or fantasy in nature.

I'm actually uncertain what the additional wild thing is. I'd like to see a hippogryph or something along those lines but honestly, at this point I won't complain about anything they put up since it's just additional goodness.

I am really curious to see what comes next. Still holding out hope for the kyra on dragon model...

Also Paizo's CEO posted another blog entry on their company website in support of this:

The Best Deal in Gaming Miniatures—Now With More Pathfinder!

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Last week, I posted a blog from the floor of Gen Con letting you know about Reaper's Bones Kickstarter for their unpainted plastic miniatures. At the time, they were just passing $565,000, heading towards the first Pathfinder miniatures stretch goal, adding nine Pathfinder goblin minis to their package, plus the option to buy the Red Dragon from the cover of the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook.

Well, your support blew the roof off their Kickstarter; as i write this, it has just passed $1,500,000. And Reaper's next goal, at $1,540,000, will bring four more iconic Pathfinder characters. Four more? Yep—since my last email, Reaper announced a second Pathfinder stretch goal that was quickly achieved, adding seven of our iconic characters: Seelah (paladin), Damiel (alchemist), Merisiel (rogue), Feiya (witch), Valeros (fighter), Amiri (barbarian), and Seoni (sorcerer). They also added the option to buy the awesome Jabberwock from the cover of the Pathfinder RPG Bestiary 2 for only $10. And their latest goal adds Bones minis for Kyra (cleric), Ezren (wizard), Lem (bard), and Seltyiel (magus).

The best deal in miniatures gaming history keeps getting better and better. Right now, a $100 pledge (the "Vampire" level) will get you 200 Bones minis and a metal Sophie the succubus. That means the Bones figures cost only 50 cents each! Wow! And if you don't want the metal Sophie, it has been announced that you'll be able to opt out of it for $25 credit to put towards other minis, such as the gargantuan Nethyrmaul the Undying undead dragon, designed for Reaper by Wayne Reynolds!

There are only three days left to back this Kickstarter, so don't hesitate. This will be the last time that I send you a friendly reminder, one gamer to another. I want to see Reaper succeed with this Kickstarter because bringing cheaper miniatures to the hobby benefits the whole industry. But I particularly wanted to let you, my gamer friends, know so you can get in on the minis deal of a lifetime.

And as more of us get involved, the deal gets better for everyone. If this Kickstarter behaves like most, we could blow through quite a few more stretch goals before all is said and done, meaning we'll get even more miniatures for our pledges. All you have to do is get involved. I've been told that they have more Pathfinder stretch goals waiting in the wings!

Many of the staff members here at Paizo have already backed this Kickstarter, and I'm expecting we'll have quite a few painting parties around the office once they arrive. Join in the fun and get involved with the Reaper Miniatures Bones Kickstarter. People will be talking about this one for years to come. Are you on board?

Your gaming friend,

Lisa Stevens

Sorry Witt, I've only seen photos of all the dragon models, that or the concept art pics. Of the two I'd go for the undead dragon myself as it's based off a Wayne Reynolds pic and I love his art (and how good Reaper's sculptors are at converting it to 3 dimensions).

I own Deathsleet and he is awesome. yes he does indeed stand close to 12" tall table to wingtip. Ebonwrath is also awesome. The dragon's in the two pack are nice especially if you like smaller dragons and are perfect for RPG or skirmish games. The Clockwork and the Dracolich are Bones exclusive but Reaper's translations of concept art into metal is nearly flawless so I would say these are must gets.

I know, I've been checking the counter frequently, I honestly can't believe how much it just keeps rising. I didn't think it would pass two milestones while I've been awake today but it's looking like it will, and they were $130,000 apart as well. Looking forward to see what they're tempting us with next... and at this rate we'll probably have by the time I'm up again tomorrow morning.

Next goal at $2,060,000:

What's that, you ask? Something BIG for the next goal? Tired of person-sized monsters? But you want it ALSO be a Bonus Miniature for Free, and not a paid Option? And one you can get multiples of, too?

Teehee.:p Not actually that interested in the midgets, but after the hydra, mouselings (dear god no, Reaper resist it)and Pathfinder Iconics they were probably one of the most requested things (halfling/gnome heroes).

It's funny but when it started people were doubting it would hit 1m, no the question is 'will it hit 3?'.

Brakkart

Well Reaper did go into this with a plan for it going as high as $4 million, so $3 million is well within their strategy and it would be amazing to see them do it as that would make it the 4th highest raising Kickstarter project thus far.

I'm hoping that they don't include Mouselings too, they are cute (well some of them are, I only have the barbarian one) but I don't think they'd be a good fit for the campaign. There is a small but vocal group on the comments threads there asking for Water & Air Elementals which would be good additions to round out the Earth & Fire ones that have already been added in.

The other Pathfinder Iconics would be good, as would a group of the villains (especially the sort that are more the troops than the leaders, ie Red Mantis Assassin and Sinspawn, as people would be more likely to go for several add-ons of those.

I blame the halflings. Every person I know in the flesh who is interested in the Reaper Kickstarter just isn't excited about halflings. They should have done them for one of the lower goals, not one with a gap of 180k dollars. I realize they had requests on the KS comments and such but I think that is simply a vocal minority.

Turns out there was a problem with the KS/amazon server that wasn't allowing pledges to be added/increased. Since being fixed 10-20 minutes ago its increased 15k. Currently averaging 15k/hour not including the last sudden increase, so in spite of the midgets its doing well because this isn't even peak pledge time.

Oh and Reaper Bones is now the FIFTH most funded Kickstarter project of any sort ever Only 850k behind fourth place.

I agree that 180k was a bit too much of a gap just to get some halflings, but to be honest I think it's going to cost them so much to ship all of this out that I don't begrudge them putting the milestones so far apart, even for something like this. And look at it this way - now that halflings have been added, the vocal minority can be ignored!

Yeah I found that, I think it was Kickstarter as I was able to go through Amazon just fine, it was after all that that it buggered up. I added the two sets of add on giants and a carry case for my gf to the pledge, but that's as high as I can afford to go (though if the next milestone is a dragon my gf may well do).

This group of vile dark wizards make excellent Character miniatures, or enemy miniatures, whether as bosses or low level wizards to fight! And like the Golems, they're a Bonus!
BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!!

We are going old school for this next goal. Every Vampire or Undertaker Level pledge will receive Frog God Games pdf of Swords & Wizardry Complete Rules. Play the game the way it was meant to be played... Original edition rules, original edition feel. Put those miniatures to work in this award winning game.

Hold on to your hats, Boneheads, we're counting down by hours now and moving faster than ever!

The image doesn't seem to have worked (for me anyways) but this is pretty cool :) Something to use all these gorgeous miniatures for!

I like the Necromancers and the S&W rules are a nice touch, they also have a kickstarter going incidentally.

EDIT: 608,215 for the day, just under 17 hours to go. Kicktraq now projects a result between 2,913,072 and 3,339,192USD and as I think I've said before to date Reaper has always exceeded Kicktraqs projections.

Another Edit: First hour of the last day 0000-0100 saw 33k pledged.

Still, I do agree with what everyone else is saying - if they add another large monster as an optional figure, it means that people who are already in can up their pledges. This sort of thing, and even the free models to an extent, are only really a draw to people who haven't pledged yet.

That said, I'm in for everything I can at this point so I'm mainly just watching the total rise for the sense of achieving something so momentous!

Lol no worries mate, you obviously really wanted it :) Now it's just a case of waiting til they produce the minis!

Speaking of which, I had a question for people who have bought from Reaper before - do they come with bases? I've had a look at their site and they seem to be based on all sorts of different ones so I'm guessing not. Which isn't a problem, but then that leads to my second question - what do people usually like basing them on?
