DYSTOPIAN LEGIONS is a fast-paced, action-packed 28mm scale tabletop game set in the exciting world of Dystopian Wars, where Victorian super science fiction has created a fascinating and brutal arena for a deadly world war.

Having brought carnage to the Dystopian battlefields with giant tanks, massive airships and technologically advanced naval vessels it is now time to get up close and personal with your warfare. It is up to your platoons of infantry to storm enemy positions, capture towns, secure strategic objectives and devastate rival nations.

Infantry sections are the building block of Dystopian Legions, but we’ve created so much more for gamers to build their armies with. Also available for battlefield commanders will be elite infantry units, section upgrades, mechanised walkers, tankettes, armoured personnel carriers and special characters, such as leaders and scientists who can inspire your men and cause fear in the enemy.

And if that isn’t enough we’ve created full scale battle tanks, stoked full of detail and delivered in glorious high quality resin. Marvel at these giant behemoths of the battlefield…

The game is scalable from a small number of models right the way up to a full blown company of men with armoured support. A modular approach to army building guarantees the game embraces further new releases and game expansions. Dystopian Legions will feature a range of high quality pewter and resin models.

Welcome to DYSTOPIAN LEGIONS… warfare just got so much more personal! Check out the nation links to the right for more information.

I'm so excited. I love Dystopian Wars, but I love 28mm scale more. Having both together will be brilliant and SG usually do a decent ruleset. I'll finally have more of an excuse to buy lots of lovely Steampunk minitures from other companies too.

Brilliant minis, and compatible with so many other lines with a bit of tinkering. And just awesome to get on their own of course :D

I may have just planned a new army or three based on those pics! Absolutely stunning. I mighteven be tempted to pick up the rules to play as well, if I can find a local game. Shouldn't be too difficult

I was so excited to see these pop up, but alas I am beyond the laws of mathematics when it comes to broke-ness (due to CMON and their damn kickstarters *CURSE YOU CMON!!!*) But I can see me starting a little display of these guys at one point, if nothing more than a display piece to get my FSA fleet in the mood to win! (If I ever get a game of Dystopian wars in...)

Ah, I saw a few pictures on Beats of war earlier today, but theres more on here I have not seen so thanks for that! it definitly gives a better representation of the game.

I find this a very exciting move for Spartan. I think DW is their best game/mythology so it's really cool to see them expand it out into a whole new game. The models look pretty great too!

the standout miniature for me out of all of those is definitly that Female pilot! fantastic figure with a lot of character!

Agreed, I was all enthusiastic about the Britannians (my DW faction of choice) then I saw that and decied I'd better buy and paint a little Prussian force before DL is released, because I need her.

Damn Eldargal you beat me too it. I saw the sheets showing the miniatures available for purchase from the suppliers today in my local gaming store. Luckily I checked if anyone had posted about it before posting myself.

I do not know how they will get the naval stuff to fit in a 28mm game, so maybe it will just be the infantry, and the smaller tanks and walkers. I do not think the larger tanks or land carriers could fit onto a table and move around easily. LOL

It would be a nice skirmish based infantry game concept though. If it uses modified basic dystopian wars rule, that allow for skirmish based combat, I think I would enjoy it.

Are they also releasing a new side army for standard Dystopian wars, Aliens or something?

http://www.studiosparta.co.uk/

This link has lots of stuff on it, and the invaders section looks like the pictures and hinted article they had on the tripod monster that hunted ships in the mist was a hint at this expansion to the normal game.

Yes indeed, H.G. Wells forward slash War of the Worlds inspired aliens. As someone who has actually read WotW as opposed to knowing about it just through that truly, truly revolting Hollywood remake from a few years back I'm quite excited. Naming one of my Britannian cruisers Thunderchild.

Huh...interesting site, so it is sort of like a FW "sub company" or that does more niche stuff, glad to see firestorm invasion finally come out - i like those figures more than dropzone commander personally, hope they expand out and do the rest of the races.

Yep, just like FW, making cool things which can be safely ignored if you prefer. So the aliens aren't officially part of the DW universe but you can have them if you want. And who wouldn't want to? Serioulsy. H.G. Wells was a tabletop gamer for gods sake, it was meant to be.

I know right? Personally I'll be considering them an official faction. My Grandfather used to play "Little wars" even!

Spartan's quickly becoming one of my favourite wargame companies - great selection of stuff, great backround, lots of cool games....with Firestorm invasion and Dystopian Legions, they have five games now! pretty impressive considering they are still quite a young company.

Tom Cruise, one of the two actors whose movies I generally have hated. Leonardo DiCaprio is the other one.

What Tom Cruise's War of the Worlds. Great Movie (sarcasm just oozing from every word). Best acting, and that blood looked so real. LOL.

What if Spartan Games/ Studio Sparta got a deal with Call of Cathulu designers or some other similar gaming system, that cold be modified to fit into the Dystopian wars gaming system? They could make some really wicked armies.

What would you use then? Suggest a few ideas, What would you use for tanks, fliers, land tanks, warships and submarines etc?

You obviously know Lovecraft's works, so suggest a few alternatives.

Land-tanks - Massive shoggoths would work well, especially in the DW scale. Shoggoths should be massive abominations anyway, you can even link their awakening into the backround through the Covenant of antarctica unwittingly uncovering the elder thing city.
EDIT : This guy's pic is perfect for what I envisioned : http://eclectixx.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d4rr7r9

Another land-tank possibility could be Chthonians, these could be done like the small tokens that have the small tanks on them pretty well. They are basicly squid-like worms, so you sculpt the two worm bodies first then do the entrails-like tentacles on the ends. Simple and effective and would look great next to the larger land-tank sized Shoggies.

Fliers - You could go for Flying Polyps, you could have small ones for the flier tokens and larger ones for the Planes. Alternatively you could have night-gaunts or Byakee as flyer-tokens but I never really liked those ones much myself. Another option could be Star Vampires, or Mi-Go - allthough I think the latter would be too small for DW scale.

Warships - could be done as large floating structures that look neither organic or manufactured, you have the weird geometries, or go for materials like Coral. You could even lovecraftian esque weapons sticking out of the sides. You could go for something along the lines of how Paul Carrick did the Pipers of azathoth in that the instruments are actually an organic component that is part of the ships overal shape.

other unique units could be things such as the windowless black towers the polyps built, but mobile and able to float above the ground acting as a unit that can be used on land/air/water.

For submarine equivilents, i'd say a depiction of Dagon along the lines of this would be awesome : http://www.sotatoysonline.com/images/IMG_7404.jpg

I tried looking up a few websites for the other Lovecraft monsters, you mentioned and more, and got completely mind fubbled with information and pictures. I could not work out how big some were as they had no size comparison, and I can not easily determine if you could use a lot of them in the game as they do not have inherent shooting attacks.

In a game like dystopian wars, you need some form of ranged attack. To make an army of Lovecraftian beast wwork you either have to use fast movement, and lost of ramming and close combat assaults, which causes the game to be unbalanced, or you need units that can shrug off damage before they close in to fight up close. Again this unbalances the game, as I just keep out of your charge assault range.

There might be some other weird alternative games systems that could be converted over to DW.

I could use that Metzger for a Knights Titan, when I was not using it for Dystopian.

Polyps use Wind to attack. Shoggoths could easily be made to shoot toxic slime or something along those lines. Yithians have lightning weaponry ect. Plenty of ideas for ranged attacks there :)
