I'm confused about the drop pod assault rule. The confusion arrises form the wording of Drop pod "assault" vs, "deep strikin"g. My basic question is this: Can the units that arrives via drop pods in turn one, Assault in the turn they arrive in (turn 1)? The rules specifically says they can not when deep striking, which I understand to mean after the 1st turn. Is this correct?

Wolf gaurd terminators assaulting in the first turn would be awesome. (maybe too awesome), but come on, they don't get to teleport.....

Nope, you can't assault out of a drop pod.

Which is pretty much what I figure, though why is it called a drop pod "assault" if you can't assault?

Because the Space Marines are assaulting the enemy position, arriving via Drop Pod.

Because fluff as nothing to do with the rules.

Yep, same reason heavy flamers are assault weapons, and assault cannons are heavy weapons.
