I probably just fail at reading, but does the book ever give a value to how big the table is supposed to be?
At the beginning, the book suggests a table or open space. The scenarios list the dimensions of certain features but never the whole thing.

So far we've goofed around on everything from a card table to a 4x8. The difference in play is rather noticable.

Thanks!

Previously the guidance for the standard board was for a 6' by 4' board, like the realm of battle board - the usual tournament size for 1,500 points and this can be increased or decreased at your pleaseure. A lot of tiny GW stores in the UK use 4' by 4' boards and this is really rubbish unless you are playing cities of death. I (and most of my friends use 8' by 4' for the 2k games but for smaller, six by four feels about right (probably because we are used to it!).

Yeah...4X6 is the smallest I would use. Anything smaller and the ships end up flying off the edge all the time.

Plus you need space to make nova cannons useful if you have then.
