Here is an image comparing THON minis to existing minis.
They look pretty chunky monkeys :)

I really like the look of these models and the sound of the game with roleplay as well.
However this is the first kickstarter I've pledged to where the amount has gone down!
I'm hoping it picks back up again as I really like the look of it. The chap in charge has significantly boosted the amount of extra modls you get at the stretch goals.
Take a look.

Just seen the Kickstarter has been cancelled, despite reaching its initial goal

Pity, it looked promising though I personally was undecided about pledging. It went backwards quite spectacularly which was odd.

Looking at the pledges on the right, no one pledged more than $200. Most the successfull ones see a lot more.

I was never a fan of most the models here, but a few guys at my club were interested

I was in for $200 and i'm gutted it's been cancelled. I thought the miniatures were great and the roleplay idea addition seemed fun.

I've never seen a kickstarter go down like that! I do not know why it happened. I don't think the gameplay video was very good though. That is my only criticism. I will be eagerly watching the facebook page to see when he comes back for another go.

I feel so sorry for the guy. He got it funded real quick and must have thought he had got his dream up and running. Then it kept slipping back down! I hope he keeps his chin up and tries again cause I want those models.

Agreed. Actually a bit disgusted with some of the comments on the KS page since he cancelled it. One guy complaining he felt betrayed, a few more being very critical of the decision. For gods sake show some tact, the poor guy is probably really upset and he did the right thing cancelling it before it drifted under the starting goal (which it was trending towards sadly) and failed anyway.

I'm not sure KS allows a game to "fail" after it has "succeeded". I believe that KS doesn't allow backers to remove money if it would take a project below it's funding level. I believe it's kind of like crossing the Rubicon - once you cross the funding line, there's no going back unless the creator cancels.

So why did he cancel?

Because he was rapidly approaching a situation in which everybody who could get out, would get out, and then the KS would have turned into a hellish "game" of existing backers hoping to catch some newbie jumping in so they could depledge. Meanwhile, the creator would be on the hook to deliver at a bare minimum funding level, which might have been understated based on the things promised. It just sets the whole thing up for serious bad blood in a downward spiral.

Compare with Rick Priestly's money grab. Same deal. Backers initially gambled that Gates of Anatares would be awesome. Instead, backers, started seeing trouble, and running for the door. 3 days of solid negative numbers after a fortnight of flatlining, and it was time to pull the plug.

I agree and plan to do the same. I wasn't so much a fan of the miniatures, although I did like some of them, but I loved how he's been fleshing out the setting as he goes and I like the idea of a miniature game and RPG commingled together.

Hope he's able to get his project off the ground, not really my cuppa myself - but good design-work is good design-work regardless of taste and there isnt really any minis game out there with that kind of video-game/mass effect look, and I know a few people who might get into miniature stuff through something like this so I wish him all the best.

Grau, the no depledging if it would take a project below it's target only applies in the lat 24 hours of the run time. As it stood it could have dropped below minimum.

@Gotthammer - danke for the clarification. In theory, a project can look good with 25 hours to go, and BAM!, fail? Yikes, that's a little scary for the creator, but it's safer for the backers in case the creator switches direction mid-campaign.

At the rate backers were fleeing, Thon would have dropped below target within 24 hours of the cancellation.
