The Kickstarter is now live for the 28mm Anti-Tank Lasercannon, and the 28mm Heavy Weapons Carriage.

We've set ourselves the goal of £600 to get these ihighly detailed kits by Kit Burrows of Zinge Industry, which will be cast in high quality resin, into production.

Should we surpass our initial funding goal, and reach our stretch goals, we'll start to unlock a number of alternative weapons, the first of which is the Gatling Cannon. Anyone who backs the project with complete Anti-Tank Lasercannons will also receive any of the unlocked weapons.

It's all over to you guys now, if you'd like to see this put into production, or more to the point want to add one more of the complete Anti-Tank Lasers, or just the carriages to your collection, please pledge your support, no matter how much. Just as important though, if you know someone who might be interested in the project, please share it with them.

This looks nice but should really be in the dedicated Kickstarter forum not in 40k News & Rumours.

OrksOrksOrks, thank you for your support! I'll try to get back to your message on Facebook a little later today, got quite alot to catch up on from over night it seems!

I woke up this morning to some amazing news, the Kickstarter has in the space of little over 12 hours surpassed it's funding goal, reaching 116% Funding as I write this. To say I'm chuffed and slightly stunned would be an understatement, but I think it speaks volumes about the quality of the work by Kit Burrows from Zinge Industry.

Of course now we're looking towards the first stretch goal, this stands at £900 to unlock the first alternative weapon, a Gatling Cannon, expect an update on this ASAP. Remember, backing us with complete Anti-Tank Lasercannon kits will also receive one of each of the unlock alternative weapons for their guns.

Thank you to everyone for your support so far, the extent of this project remains in your hands, if you'd like to see even more options for this kit as it heads production, or more to the point, if you'd like to get your hands on any of it, pledge your support on our Kickstarter page.

Any pledge, no matter the size brings us a step closer to putting this into production. However, just as important as before though is getting the word out, so please, share this on your blog, through twitter, forum or just with local gamers how might be interested!

Once again, thank you!

Wow, I'm staggered, we're coming towards the end of day three of our Kickstarter, with 27 still to go, and we've smashed our initial funding goal reaching over 250% funding, thats nearly £1600!

Thats the Gatling Cannon unlocked, the Autocannon unlocked and the Artillery Crew unlocked, and we're only a little over £100 short of the last of our initial stretch goals for the Tesla Cannon and Rocket Launcher! The pace with which the funding has come in has absolutely amazed me, and left us chasing our own stretch goals to catch up.

We'll be posting updates on all our stretch goals as soon as possible now, and hope to add some new ones shortly!

On that note, we're very much open to suggestions on further alternative Heavy Weapons options - what would you like to see?

Heavy Bolter (or something similar) would be a good idea, that or maybe scale up the size of the carriage and add in options for twin-linked guns, or even an option for a non-mobile base unit that the weapons will fit into for use as a fixed turret?

Ah didn't see this so I'd sent one on the contact form, in case you didn't check facebook!

No worries take your time, you're going to be a busy dude at this rate, all stretch goals funded already! Amazing!

As for new ideas for strecth goals, how about an alternative front plate to make it nice and Orky so it could be used as Ork heavy weapons! It'd look great as-is as a Zzap cannon but a slightly tweaked sheild, flatter and more ramshackle would make it perfect and open up the KS to even more people!

Just another quick update, we're starting to preview the stretch goals as we fight to catch up with the overwhelming response, having unexpectedly hit over 400% funding in just four days. I've now posted up the concept sketch of our Gatling Cannon, and an early work in progress render of the Autocannon.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x160/gravisblog/Forum%20Pictures/36379575308dc4566a73cbf46155f31d_large_zps5f008f8f .png

The concept for the Autocannon is a double barrelled cannon which is crossed with a piston. As the wheel turns the barrels move in and out loading and ejecting shells as they go, this essentially just shows that mechanism. We'd welcome feedback on this design as its still in the early stages.

As a result of the unexpected demand, we've capped our earlier pledges which have now nearly been entirely filled, and opened up some new ones which are also filling rapidly. We've also made the difficult decision to not add further stretch goals until we're ready to deliver on our existing promisses. We'd rather deliver everything on schedule then keeping adding more! That said though, I'm confident we'll catch up ahead of the campaigns conclusion and we have plans to add what we're calling the 'Gatling Mortar', additional crew, accessories, and hopefully more!

Once again, thankyou to everyone who has supported us so far!

Brakkart, the Gatling Cannon is our take on a Heavy Bolter type weapon, twin-linked weapons probably are'nt something we'll tackle here (though as you can see above the Autocannon is going to be a twin barreled weapon), turrets are a possibility though - but may appear with this or the next planned kickstarter later on.

OrksOrksOrks, busy is pretty accurate! Thats a damn interesting observation on some more ramshackle bits. I'll look into that!

Looks good. However I won't be funding the kickstarter.

I reckon you would be better off doing a kickstarter for Curious constructs as a whole, rather than just trying to fund individual projects. As incentives you can offer more interesting ideas for larger donations, and once you start making a profit (which I'm sure you could from the quality of your designs) you can fund your own projects more easily.

I dunno, i think I disagree, other hobby related KSs I've held back on because they ask a lot of money up front with no concrete delivery time, most video game ones are $10-$20 for the basic game, which i don't mind spending and waiting over a year, but $150 on miniatures that won't show up for 18 months? or more becuase they keep adding strecth goals? No thanks! I think Col. Gravis has done it right, and the great success of his project shows that, start small, with something you know you can deliver with in short time frame and aren't asking a lot of investment for.

SotonShades, Im glad you like the look of the kit. I can understand your point, and it is certainly is tempting to do things that way, I can see the appeal for raising a fairly chunky investment quickly without resorting to a business loan.

I could certainly show off the dozen's of projects which are underway already and would benefit from general funding like that, or reel off the list of ideas which are floating around in my head, some with concept designs, some without, or even go into how I'd really like to get into 3d printing, and possibly even the casting side for myself. If I was an individual seeking funding for a startup, or seeking to make a full time career out of it, it would make alot more sense in some respects.

That just does'nt sit right with me though, I'd be asking backers to essentially write me a blank cheque, not knowing exactly what their ultimately going to get in the long run for their investment, and definately not when. I'd much rather do a few targetted kickstarters like this, in line with what OrksOrksOrks says, with smaller goals and realisitic time frames where backers will know exactly what they're getting, and just as importantly, when they're going to get it.

In the long run it'll mean as an entity Curious Constructs will grow much slower then it could potentially. As a consequence other projects which I dont run through kickstarter will need to wait for me to have the funding to invest, some may even miss out altogether. However, as I've mentioned previously, this is a side line for me, a sort of extension of my hobby and not my full time job, nor would I want it to be in honesty.

A nice little update!

First up are renders of the unlocked Rocket Launcher addition, designed by Faolan and mounted on Kit Burrows carriage, it is inspired by the 19th century Congreve Rocket Launcher.

We've also added a new extra, a rugged little tractor unit ideal for shifting ammunition, or even towing the artillery pieces with an option hook. Another multi-part resin kit, designed by Faolan, it measure about 5.5cm in length.

We've also added some new pledge reward options, and I can confirm that the Carriage and Anti-Tank Laser itself has now been printed - this should now be on show at Salute this weekend on the Zinge Industries stand!

These would make great Grot "Big Gunz" models, a little ork symbols here and there, and they would be fantastic. I would love to see an actual carrige model, those may work great for Grot Tank conversions.

How do you mean an actual carriage model Mr.Pickelz?

A couple more additions, first off a work in progress preview of the Tesla Cannon!

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x160/gravisblog/Forum%20Pictures/TeslacannonAssembly_zps7bc3db89.jpg

Secondly, we've added a final stretch goal, one last push to add a final weapon, though to keep it viable this one will be an extra addition pledgers will need to add to their pledge. It is still work in progress, but here is the Multiple Rocket Launcher!

Our final funding total was £7295 - we asked for £600 - so we achieved 1215% funding! Frankly I'm still stunned by how successful its been, I really do think that this can be put down to the stunning work done by Kit of Zinge Industries and Faolan, huge thanks to them both!

With all the CAD work complete (all the finished designs are on the Kickstarter page), we're moving on getting the rest of the masters printed now, and then production moulds produced. I'll update with pictures at various points as these become available. I'm confident that we'll be delivering all pledges on time in June and July respectively, with all the sets which features in the kickstarter going on general sale in the store also in July - or otherwise just as soon as all pledges have been fulfilled.
