Don't miss this one!

Ohh, I miss those designs!

I was right - says Robotech when it really means "English Language Macross" :p

Going to hold off on this one and see what extra designs come though shouldn't be long as they just smashed the first stretch. Queadluun Rau would get me in (yay Miria!), but at the moment the veritech renders are looking a little uninspiring - some idea of the poses would be good.
Also hope the rumblings of 28mm character models comes true (and if they do them for Masters characters I would possibly die of excitement).

Edit: I do like the prints available, but I wonder if I could get them not signed by Kevin Siembieda - it's not going to make them look nicer (he's not the artist or involved in Robotech/Macross originally), and having his name on something will count against it's value most likely [/snark]

I could get them not signed by Kevin Siembieda

As I understand it, it's just the certificate which is signed, not each item.

I saw these guys at adepticon. While they said they are focusing on The Macross saga, if they do well they plan on going as far as they can. Or so they told me. I would love me some invid

That's really the sort of thing that should be on their Kickstarter page somewhere. Also a bit grumpy that there are currently 12 models for the RDF (including the Monster), yet only 4 for the Zentradi.

To be fair, the Zentraedi only had a few variations of their battle pods (Standard Regault, Officer, Recon, Artillery, and the Missile Pod)... throw in the air fighter and maybe a standard zentraedi solder (since they were the size of veritechs) and that's what, 7 possibilities total? Give Ninja Studios time and I'm sure we'll see everything...

Also at Adepticon they were giving away test models of the battlepods to the first 100 visitors to their booth everyday. They were also very personable and willing to explain the game and where they would like for it to lead.

imo the First Contact level seems to be an extremely good deal, especially if they keep feeding it through stretch goals. I think it has a 130$ value over the it's cheaper option, which is only a 60$ difference. There's also the thing of Orkify'ing those models in case the game turns out poor (insert evil Orky laughter)

@ Chrono - my concerns are that a) from a gameplay perspective having 4 units vs 12 will be dull, and given the starter box has 12 pods and an officer vs 5 veritechs and two destroids, how many pods do you need to take out a MAC II? and b) from a Kickstarter perspective if they flood it with RDF units they risk burning people out, and the rather large stretches for more of the same won't get new people in.
For instance after the MAC II is unlocked they've said it's a 20k stretch to the next goal which is an add on to ever box. So assuming it's not adding Quaedluun Raus / Reas, they're going to need to past that stretch goal before I'm maybe going to put one dollar towards it.

imo the First Contact level seems to be an extremely good deal,

31 models for $80 is not terrible, but not particularly good at $2.50+ per model.

Compare with Zombicide 1 with 114 models, Sedition Wars with 100 models, and Zombicide 2 with 169 models for $100 - $1 or less per model. Granted these are somewhat smaller models, but even adjusting for size, to be an extremely good deal, I'd expect at least 50 models in the $80 box.

These are relatively high complexity units, with lots of wounds and options. It seems designed as a very small skirmish game, versus a large mass battle game. Which is really wierd, because it's squadron-oriented like Flames of War. Wanting to reproduce the larger scenes wouldn't be playable.

What was the game play like?
I've watched the video but it is still very early days it seems, and was therefore pretty basic . I'm hoping their will be more videos to come.

My apologies, i meant within the whole Robotech Kickstarter, not in general as a comparison to things like Zombiside and such.

Maybe I'm spoilt by GW but the models seem awfully static. Also 110USD for shipping from Foreign Parts is a lot for the basic kit especially when personally I don't know much about the game having only watched some of the cartoons when I was five or six.

I can have all mine piloted by pink haired anime girls right?

Yeah, we're all hassling them on the KS page for more info about poses and poseability/modularity, which they have said there is but annoyingly aren't showing. My understanding is that the demo models at Adepticon were metal tests, thus the same poseness to them.

You certainly can! Though the green tresses of Miriya shall always be superior - not only was she a total badass for the bad guys:

The models they showed at Adepticon were a mix of static and dynamic poses. They don't look like they have an incredibly wide array of poses, but certainly enough that it doesn't look like your veritechs are at a parade.

They posted a Rules Preview with the last update - http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rrpgt/robotech-rpg-tacticstm/posts

I think the base troop minis in this boxed starter set will be more dynamic than say, the base troop minis in the 40k boxed starter. ;)

I know they also said they are working on shipping for people outside the U.S. (read Europe) by trying to get something going with a distributor over there.

New graphic showing more model poses:

Latest update also includes a price drop on the Zentraedi fighters, including A, J & S head types for the Valkyries on every sprue and a preview of the $475K stretch.

Rules look pretty good from the brief overview. It's not going to be a mass combat game like Epic or even 40k, but more like Battletech in that you can do big battles, but there's a bit of paperwork. Of course it wouldn't be hard to simplify the rules a bit to accommodate more dudes.

It would appear that Palladium has finally recognized that they are not on track to sell 5000+ copies at $140 each plus loads of models at near-retail prices.

what makes you say that?

Gotthammer

Lots of big updates - the Super Valkyries are almost unlocked, and they put out beta army lists that also reveal the units they plan on doing:

Zentraedi (http://damommasboyz.com/sodapop/rtsquadrons/zentraedi-force-org.html): Female Power Armour, Miriya and two types of infantry (light and heavy)

UEDF (http://damommasboyz.com/sodapop/rtsquadrons/uedf-force-org.html):
Armoured Veritech
VF-1R
VEFR-1 AWACSvalkyrie
QF-3000E Ghost
SF-3A Lancer II

The lists work much like Epic's cards did - you choose a core squadron, and you can add on the number of support and special cards to that squadron. So if you start with a Valkyrie squadron (4 veritechs), you could add 2 more fighters and an AWACs unit, then give them a VF-1S in either regular, super or armoured to lead.

They've also put out a size chart (http://damommasboyz.com/sodapop/rtkick/sizechart-3.jpg), so you can get an idea of the mini's scale. They're mostly around 40-50mm tall.

and Super Valkyries added as a purchase:

Just thought I should point out that with 8 hours to go there are almost 5,000 backers and just over $1.2 million dollars pledged. Average pledge is just shy of the two box set level (as in $4 shy) :p Should also say it's one of the most commented on Kickstarters, with almost 48,000 comments in 33 days!

Regardless, there are tons of add ons, freebies and deals to be had, so get in before it's too late! (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rrpgt/robotech-rpg-tacticstm)

It is good that they decided to drive some decent value mid-campaign, but it's a disappointment to many collectors that they didn't include the Armored Battloid or Elintseeker, nor Zentradi infantry to fill out the BattleCry bundle.

Gotthammer

Are you kidding me? Battlecry is giving you 40-60mm minis for around $1.30 each, not including all the dice, tokens, rules and cards and you want more?
Guess they should have just given it all away for free
