Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade announced, a third person MMO due 2015.

Check it out: http://bhvr.com/eternalcrusade/

It’s being made by Behaviour Interactive, who have done a lot of varied work across IOS, DS and PC including, let’s see, WET, Naughty Bear: Panic in Paradise, Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime, and they did the art for Mafia Wars: London.

There's potential.

I doubt theres potential.

Next to no one gets an RPG right on their first try. And an MMO is even more difficult to do properly. I'll pay attention, but i see this being fairly dire

4 Playable Factions are:

Space Marines: Genetically modified super-soldiers created by the Emperor of Mankind to protect the Imperium of Man.
Chaos Space Marines: Space Marines who have fallen prey to the corruption of the Warp and seek the destruction of the Imperium.
Eldar: A dying race of mysterious beings from before the birth of mankind with a mastery of psychic powers.
Orks: Brutal, green-skinned hordes that seek war in all its forms.

Reminds me of Space Marine, yeah, which is definitely a good thing. Fingers crossed...

Actually on watching the gameplay section again, the resemblance parts of the UI and the animations to Space Marine is almost uncanny. I wonder if they got access to some of the SM assets? The models and environments though are clearly new, and also clearly very early.

The way that THQ fell apart, I was never really sure what happened to the 'guts' of things like Space Marine. I still play it online all the time and really like the similarities in UI and Activity. So is it convergent evolution, or is this building upon the skeleton of what came before? I guess time will tell, but and MMO scaled world, that has the combat elements of a shooter like Space marine would be fantastic!

The hook for this does interest me;
All factions battle for a planet.
Each faction will have a war council of players (Elected I believe) that decide on strategy for taking control of a planet.
Players don't have to obey the council but get bonuses if they do.
At the end of "a battle" (Weeks, months of actual play time) one faction will win that planet and the war moves on to another planet. At the end of the season the winners of the war are announced, prizes awarded.
Orks are the free to play race, so there will be a lot of them, all other races/factions are pay to play.
Tyranids are an AI faction that can be used to balance wars (One faction is too heavily populated by players so a gribly swarm starts munching their territories).
Allegedly 1000 people servers with open world PvP.

All sounds fun on paper, I'm interested to see how it goes.

It may be worth deleting the Dark Millenium sub forum, now that THQ have gone, and make a new one for this.

The orks will be the F2P race. The entire game will be mostly against the Tyranids. There is an eternal crusade forum with a lot of info. Interested players should join. My name on the forums is Abaddon. Hit me up!
PS: stoked!!!!!!!
