Tbh Eldargal, having got the vibe of your politics on various threads, I am a little surprised that you would endorse this - barring a few exceptions the sculpts just seem to show the same tired imagery of women that we have come to expect from the gaming industry with their unrealistic proportions and vaguely erotic undertones (In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only tight clothing and corsets it seems). I have been in the process of collecting and painting up a Gaunts Ghosts army for a couple of years, and its really difficult to try and get hold of female sculpts that actually look like soldiers in their dress and physique, not like something out of a bubblegum crisis cartoon or adolescent boys wet dream. I appreciate that its a free market economy where if you don't like then don't buy, but in my opinion its a pity as to me this kickstarter just seems like an opportunity missed.

Have you looked at them all? The Jailbirds are a bit sexualized the Kurganova and Iron Empire are not. I'm getting some of the Jailbird heroines for my Escher gang and the rest will be Kurganova nd Iron Empire.:)

I have, and tbh even the Kurganova stuff seems sexualised to me, which was the point I was trying to get at. I know it is ridiculous to argue over what would or would not be realistic in the far future, but pragmatism would surely be a constant - so why would women wear tight fatigue clothing and have bare midriffs if they were living and fighting outdoors? I'm not trying to be argumentative, or undermine a product that you are excited about and want to promote, but to me it just seems like the same old same old ;)

The Kurganova aren't sexualised, they have breast bump armour too but that isn't the same thing.:) I do find the bare midriffs a little silly which is why I'm only getting Jailbirds to be Escher. There is nothing particularly sexualised about the Kurganova/IE apart from breast bumps which I'm in favour of personally, at least at heroic scale, you want them visibly female at a glance. I don't think RH have overdone it (except with the JB but again it is part of their theme). No 'come hither' or T&A poses.

I'll admit to a certain bias for Raging Heroes, I'm a big fan of their products and they did name the Kickstarter exclusive miniature after me.:p But if I felt they were just churning out the same old boring sexualised stuff I wouldn't be such a fan (yes I know the Blood Vestals are topless, be quiet...:p)

Fair enough, I was just surprised that no-one else had really made an observation in the kickstarter thread elsewhere.

It's a valid enough point, it was discussed a bit in the older RH topic before the Kickstarter launched. Certainly they won't be to everyones taste but as I said I don't think you can really argue that any but the Jailbirds are sexualised.

Closing in on 665k and unlocking the last of the Were-She-Wolves.

The quality of the sculpts looks good, but personally I think the problem is that miniatures tend to be sculpted by men who spend too long playing computer games and reading comic books, much as I wish all women were six foot tall, had razor cheekbones and legs that were at least two-thirds the length of their body

Funny you should mention that, one of the people who works on the sculpt concepts if not the sculpting is a woman so it's not just a bunch of creepy guys.:)

Edit: Yay 665k reached and the last 'wolf unlocked.

I think it seems to be the curse of 28mm 'heroic' scale that humans are sculpted with unrealistic proportions, male figures have huge muscles and fists that are as large as their heads (remember the GW plastic Catachans?) Sculptors like the Perry twins did a good job of bucking this trend when they sculpted for GW, the Tanith Ghosts were excellent, Victoria Lambs sculpting is also much more realistic in its proportions.

Yep, it is a heroic scale thing. Funnily enough there are a lot of people who don't realize that RH is in heroic scale as their female miniatures are still quite finely proportioned.

Well it's not every day you become a Kickstarter Exclusive miniature from one of your favourite companies.:p #boast

My prediction for final sum raised was 680k +/-5k and it is looking like that may be a bit conservative. I'd be surprised if it reaches 700k though. Pleasantly surprised.:)

Get this: All pledges at LIEUTENANT BOX level and above now have a set of 14 Freebies worth $222 at retail, and $149 if you pick them up as Add-ons during the Kickstarter! Swweeeet!

Why do they always have breast plates that show their breast sizes?

Heroic scale, need to be able to tell they are female at a glance.

I didn't want them personally but I was interested in seeing what they look like. I'm sure they will be done eventually though.

I seem to recall there are some fairly sizable codpieces on some of the fantasy figures. The space marine scouts are also showing some "enthusiasm for war." <*wink, wink, nudge, nudge*>

And then, in the case of general fashions, there's this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZjAantupsA

Well hey ... Necron. Of course I would want me some zombie chickadees. ;)
