PaintWorks by Game Decor is a specially formulated paint for use with table top terrain. Designed to be used with plaster, resin, and foam, PaintWorks does not require a primer before being applied. The Kickstarter currently has 4 paint kits to choose from, with more available as stretch goals are met.

If you have an abundance of dungeon pieces from a certain KS that you backed, then this is the paint for you ;)

Itar's Workshop swears by PaintWorks

We have partnered with Game Decor to provide the paint for our painted sets.
I was going to use other paint but after evaluating this paint it was no contest. It's easy to use and very durable. I tested it by rubbing it with a brush for over 30 minutes (unsealed) and it didn't even make a mark. The only other paint I tested that did that well was house paint but that was much thicker than the Game Decor stuff. We aren't using the colors exactly as the kits recommend but it works out. Basically I'm using the base coat as the first coat and using the native color of the piece as the base. I will be doing a tutorial on painting the dungeon pieces when I have time.

Check them out here.

Here's a shot of a test piece that I did with the paint and put through the torture tests. As you can see there's no marks from being rubbed by a toothbrush. I didn't do the floor as a separate color since this was just a test piece and that would have taken longer (I have one or two other things on my plate right now).

HURRAY! We are funded! Thank you everyone!

Since stretch goals are next - what is the general consensus on the Molten Lava kit?
Would everyone like to keep that as the stretch goal after the Aged Wood or does everyone want something else instead?

The Molten Lava stretch goal has been reached!

A total of 67 out of 145 backers participated in the vote.

Final Vote Tally For Round 1

Red Brickwork 21
Arctic Glacier 17
Slimy Swamp 8

Deep Jungle 3
Rich Earth 3
Mountain Lake 2
Cinder Soot 1
Evergreen 1
Golden Sands 1

Red Brickwork is the winner and I'll be releasing it with the "red" version instead of the "brown" unless everyone actually wants the brown version as well. I can certainly offer both if there is demand for it.

Due to the popularity of the Red Brickwork and Arctic Glacier color schemes...

BOTH WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE $7,000 STRETCH GOAL!!!

That's right! At the $7,000 stretch goal, I will make Red Brickwork and Arctic Glacier available to pledge on!

Tonight, I'll be working on the new voting list for the $8,000 stretch goal.

ALSO!!! I am excited to be able give away my 1st freebie!

We're in the final 24 hours of the KS and now is the time to get in on a great deal for some amazing paint!

I did a sci-fi piece to show off the metallics and let me tell you... getting the colors to show up correctly when there's some metallic reflection really throws off the camera. I must have taken over 50 shots of the piece from different angles, different lighting, flash on, flash off, backlighting, more ambient light, etc etc etc. I eventually had to borrow a camera and i got a little closer in getting a good picture.

The colors are pretty close to the real thing, but picture still doesn't do it justice.

The whole piece is based with the Gothic Stone kit and dry brushed with the metallic iron. The pipes and floor grates were stippled with the Rusted Iron build-up color, then lightly stippled with the Rusted Iron highlight color. The "vents" were stippled with the Weathered Copper base, then lightly stippled with the Weathered Copper build-up, and then dry brushed with the metallic copper. The monitor was dabbed with some Arctic Glacier base and build-up. Afterwards, everything was hit with the black wash to mute the bright colors and give it a really grimy look. The tiles are all 1" square to give you a sense of scale.
