Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the Imperial Aces Expansion Pack for X-Wing™! (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=4357Imperial Aces Expansion for X-Wing)

Imperial Aces features two TIE interceptor miniatures with alternate paint schemes, several highly skilled new pilots, a dozen upgrade cards, and all the tokens and maneuver dials you need to field these ships. It also includes a new mission that allows the Empire to utilize new, experimental technology in a high-intensity clash with Rebel pilots.

The 181st Imperial Fighter Wing and the Emperor’s Royal Guard

Fly your TIE with pride! The alternate paint schemes on the TIE interceptor miniatures from the Imperial Aces Expansion Pack allow you to wage your X-Wing dogfights while representing either or both of two of the Empire’s most recognizable TIE units: the 181st Imperial Fighter Wing and the Emperor’s Royal Guard.

Also known as the Saber Squadron, the 181st Imperial Fighter Wing was an elite TIE unit and one of the Empire’s premier fighter groups. Led by Soontir Fel, the group’s aces marked the wings of their TIE interceptors with distinctive bloodstripes as soon as they recorded ten combat kills. Because of the group’s elite composition, nearly all of its TIE interceptors proudly displayed these red, horizontal stripes, and they feature prominently on one of the TIE interceptor miniatures from the Imperial Aces Expansion Pack.

New Pilots and Upgrades

The expansion’s variant TIE interceptors are just the beginning of what it offers players.

For example, players are certain to appreciate the eight ship cards in Imperial Aces, which introduce the unique talents of some of the Empire’s greatest warriors. You’ll find four unique pilots, like Kir Kanos and Carnor Jax, whose special abilities open a wide variety of new strategies and greatly expand your squad-building options. You’ll also benefit from the efficient lethality of the Royal Guard Pilot, the highest skilled of all non-unique X-Wing pilots to this point.

Imperial Aces adds further flexibility to your squad design with twelve upgrade cards (two copies each of six different upgrades). You’ll find a mix of elite pilot talents like Opportunist and new modifications like Targeting Computer and Hull Upgrade. Also, because you can’t normally upgrade a TIE interceptor with more than one elite pilot talent and a single Modification upgrade, you’ll likely find plenty of good reasons to use the expansion’s new Title upgrade, Royal Guard TIE, which permits your most skillful TIE pilots to take the helm of fighters with multiple Modifications.

Do want. Even if I still haven't managed to play a game as Imperials, I still intend to and could always use more interceptors, and of course upgrade cards. Now where's the X-wing aces pack FF?

You should really give it a shot NockerGeek.

The easiest way to start as in Imperial is grab 2 starter boxes, for 4 TIEs, then add ships at your leisure.

Then you have 2 X-Wings to hook your friends.

But doesn't this game have lots of limited edition ships or something?

Not at all, you just buy the ships, take em out and start playing. There were shortages due to insane demand earlier this year, but FFG sorted those all out.

I'm off to grab some TIE Bombers and a Lambda tomorrow!

Given my FLGS hasn't had non-wave 3 small ships since mid July I'm not buying that quite yet. I still haven't found a TIE or TIE advance blister pack, and given my FLGS was already out of small wave 3 ships by Sunday, and only had a couple shuttles left, I'm glad I got in Friday and snagged one of everything(and an extra B-wing because I've been waiting for them since the game released and you can only really run two in a reasonable 100 point list anyway).

I've seen Tie fighter, X wing, and Y-wing blisters still sold out at places, whereas they have like 30+ A-wings and 20+ intercepters. Now the Wave three ships are here and those are showing up in mass as well. That said, the B-Wing is freaking awesome! I recommend it for all Rebel forces.

Edit: Oh also, i can't wait to get 2 of these Ace Packs. :D

I have yet to see any Imperial ships on sale outside the starter box

Do i remember them saying after Wave 3 would be a re-release of Wave 1?

I'm pretty sure both of those reprints, waves 1 and 2, have come and gone? The stock I mentioned my FLGS having in July was a restock of A-wings and Interceptors that lasted all of a couple days on the shelves.

X-wing is an interesting one, as I often have to go on a citywide search via FLGS, Barnes&Noble, Gamestop, but I will eventually find em.

We are all not used to a "quasi-mainstream" game that you can grab outside of FLGS's. But FFG has fantastic distribution deals with big box stores thanks to their boardgames.

It's been a wierd game to watch grow. It went from nothing to almost as many players in Austin as 40K and Warmachine. FFG is showing no signs of letting up on the miniatures releases, and the game is starting to feel "comfortable" with every more ships.

Its's starting to get a much deeper metagame now with all the cards. Capital ships and Wave 4 should really fill it out nicely.

Same here, it went from something a few people in my gaming circle knew about and played to everyone talking about it and buying ships. It's probably second to GW stuff now.

I'm going to lose it if they release a TIE Defender.

Same here on the TIE Defender lady.

But I have a soft spot for the Cygnus Gunboat (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Alpha-class_Xg-1_Star_Wing)

I've just got into this and am planning on picking up a couple of the Imp aces packs when they come out later in the year. In the meantime I'm hoping my FLGS has some wave 3 ships in still as they did earlier in the week.

I've just ordered 3 of the core sets, 2 for myself and 1 for a mate. I tried to order some other recommended ships like the Tie Interceptor but they are either out of stock or people want £30 for one. So I preordered one of these sets instead :). Can't wait.

When out of print people want a small fortune for them. Just wait. I'm currently waiting for the y and advanced to come back so I can get them
