Well I'm officially jealous, both of the overall presentation and the clean, sharp look of the yellow. I've stayed away from yellow and large, flate white areas for years now. So how did you get it so smooth and even if I may ask?

Well I've done my Bad Moons in bright yellow. The way I've done them is:

Iyanden Darksun
Iyanden Darksun + Golden Yellow + water (1:1:1)
Golden Yellow + water (1:1)
Sunburst Yellow

The results:

That is some damn fine work on the yellow paint schemes. Yellow being one of the hardest colors to effectively paint. Nice work.

Well painted and very cohesive. I agree with the other posters with your success in pulling off a good looking force in yellow.

Watered down foundation paints. A godsend.

I don't know about Roderigo, but Reccared is awesome.

They are all named after Visigoth royalty.

Sorry for the double post, but I painted up this Servitor. I like how it turned out, I may do a unit, but for now I'll just use it as an objective...

Great idea! I love that backpack on that model... May have to 'steal' that idea for another UM assault sergeant...

Especially know the Sicarius model has been 'superceded'...

Great work...

OK, so, wow. You've outdone yourself...and that's saying something.

On the other hand, I now feel like a retarded monkey holding a paintbrush.

I really like the yellow, but the one model still wearing his ultra marine symbols would look sooo much better if you had been able to dremel them off..they aren't ultramarines after all...lol

I really would have done it, but it is a collectors model and I couldn't bring myself to defile (or file, in this case) it. I just think of it as a regular 'U'.

I just love the fluff that goes along with this fellow. What do you suppose happened to him after he fled with the Astral Claws?

I suppose he probably became a Red Corsair lord. Maybe his thunder hammer got possessed by a daemon...

SWEET EMPEROR'S TOENAIL CLIPPINGS!

*Jaw drops*

That may just be the best combination of army and board I've ever seen. It's quite literraly awesome, as in it inspires awe in those who view it.

Uh oh! Looks like some one miscalculated the drop coordinates!
Good thing we've got Inertial Guidance System though. Reduce scatter to minimum distances to avoid obstacle. ;)

I'm going to just shoot myself and my quite crappy (in comparison) Lamenter forces.

How do you do the checks?

I'm sure your Lamenters are pretty cool, I'd love to see them. The checks are first drawn on with a mechanical pencil, then filled in with chaos black...

Really nice, but can I ask what happen to the 2nd Company Captain? I didn't see him in any of the other pages.

Nice stuff Aventine, this and the pretties in the Badab codex have set me on to the path of the Lamenters as well. As I'd promised myself no more 40K marine armies, I've been forced into an Epic one instead. So far, 3 hours + 1 rhino = 0 points. That's a massive rate of zero points per hour! Extrapolating, by Christmas, I could have as much as zero points. Better paint some infantry...

Oh and start another epic thread and see if it floats. :)

My Lamenters question is:

Is there a set system for company colours/numbers/woolly hats around for the Lamenters anywhere? Or are they a "casual" chapter in that regard?

There is nothing official, besides them being Codex. I make Veterans heads red...

Great stuff all around, really impressive- especially the army display part. The Drop pod about to go "friendly fire" is a nice background tie-in, and great black humour at the same time.

Only thing I'm not fond of are those other Chapter Symbols on some of the metal HQs, like the Ravenwing stuff on the Jetbike and the Ultramarine Icons on some others, but really, that's just a minor problem. Great overall work on a chapter that needs some more love badly. ;)

Lovely work. I've taken up Lamentors for my Space Hulk terminators after trying out the colours on a test piece. The foundation paints are a godsend!

My only critique would be the U symbol on the old Sicarius model. Why did you leave it on?

So I have been wanting to use Vortex of Doom lately, but couldn't really see doing it unless I made my Librarian 'relentless' by putting him in Terminator armour. So I picked up this bad boy.

Also been looking through the new Space Wolves book and a few things have been clicking for me. I realized that with their four HQs and numerous heroic Wolf Guard, that the army list would be perfect if I ever wanted to field all my Captain models in one army. Then you just thing of that servo skull as a psyber raven, and I suddenly just painted up a pretty cool 'counts as' Njal. I'll post a list when I come up with it.
