Hey Guys,

I'm Dave McLeod, the line developer at Dream Pod 9 (http://www.dp9.com/) and I'm posting this to boost the signal about the new beta rules we've been working on. We're a small compant based out of Montreal, Canada and we source all of our production in Canada and the USA for our books and games.

Heavy Gear has got some new rules and we're giving away the PDF of the beta rules for free in the lead up to a kickstarter campaign. I'm pretty excited about this so spread the word and share it far and wide. Here's the link so you can download it (http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/133719/Heavy-Gear-Blitz-Tabletop-Wargaming--Beta-Rules?term=Heavy+gear+beta).

If you want to see some videos about game play you can go to the Heavy Gear Videos channel (http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCueGXAkjtZGOgvH88G5oIkQ) on youtube. I'll be posting a lot more videos on there as I make them.

Heavy Gear started out as a role playing game and over the years has grown some tabletop chops. I was brought on board originally to help with production but my twenty plus years playing a multitude of games in the tournament circuits, running some play test and rules groups helped me to move into the position of line developer and really rebuild the game from first principals to be a premier skirmish/army combat system. I call it a Skirmish/Army Combat system because it is just that. It works great with 4-9 models for an half hour game or up to 20-30 models a side if you want to play for a couple of hours in a tournament format. We've received a lot of feedback from our fans and have really worked hard to collaboratively develop the rules into a fast combat system with enough depth of play for each model to count and enough speed to develop the game at a comfortable pace. Here's a video with an example of an attack being resolved (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EG5kzmsKHg).

I love playing as heavily armored warriors as much as the next guy but if I can drive a fifteeen foot tall Heavy Gear armed to the teeth with a personal arsenal then that's my choice of weapon. The game is 15mm (or 1/144th scale, or N railroad scale) which lets me bring really huge tanks, Striders and Gears to the tabletop without mortgaging my house. Our kickstarter will be improving that even more with our plans to move into plastics (still planning to keep production in North America). Watch for an announcement about that.

So take a look a the free beta rules. We recently uploaded an updated version with all the changes and adjustments from the first three months of open beta testing that were recommended and discussed by our fans on the Dream Pod 9 forms (http://dp9forum.com/). Your feedback would be very welcome too, my contact e-mail is on the credits page of the beta rule book or you can message me on the DP9 forum where my username is Dave.

I'm looking forward to sharing the New Heavy Gear with you. Maybe we can even develop a new sub-forum here on BOLS!

Here's a pic one of my army commanders (Razorfang Black Mamba on a 40mm base) for anyone who's never seen a Heavy Gear before.
