I've decided that I will give up on trying to make my blood Angels a close combat specialised army (close combat just sucks now) and move re design the army into my second favourite type of warfare which is siege craft so Im thinking of getting a massive fortification network and was wondering if there where any recommendations as to what types of fortifications are good, I know I definitely want a macro cannon aquila strongpoint so that I have a effective counter to LOW choices like baneblades, but any recommendations for other types of fort choice

To be honest they suck now; they die at least as easily as vehicles and you take much more damage to the troops inside when they do. Sure the Macro Cannon is great for anti-LoW warfare but it will be a primary target for incoming too. And it only needs a few glances to remove that massive point sink off the table.

They really all got relegated to Planetstrike to be honest; where at least you get them for free. About the best fortification now is the Wall of Martyrs defence network formation, but don't put your guys in the bunker, keep them in the trench lines where they will get a 4+ cover save.

If a tank explodes you take 1 S4 hit per dude, if a building goes that's 4D6 S6 hits, which is going to really mess up your day.

I think that imho GW screwed the pooch badly, I would have accepted hull points but still kept pen hits only would have been fair to buildings and made them sufficiently easier to take down rather than give them the paper tank treatment from 6th ed vehicles.

The way I see it the building only goes big one out of six times and thanks to av15 the majority of the time it will be killed by loosing all its hull points in which case the unit just disembarks, though I started table top gaming with a skaven army, and got used to the great risk equals great reward play style

I think the opposite. There is some really neat tricks with Stronghold assault - including the escape hatch thingy where you disembark 12" away from the building - so you can put the building forward, objective backfield - and then at an opportune moment your troops move rapidly back and out as if by magic.

There are fortification networks where you can chain up defences, put in tank traps, barbed wire, stop people getting close etc. If you designed your army around these abilities it would be awesome.

I cannot even begin to imagine the survivability of AV15 - 14 is hard enough to counter.

And also claimed buildings are scoring now - so dependent on placement, a big enough fortification in a corner could make it pretty much impossible for the enemy to claim a cleverly placed objective behind it - they couldn't even get within 3 to contest it.

Don't rule out big chunks of stone.

Aegis defence lines can't be destroyed by shooting so they are still pretty good. Take a comms relay and you can reroll your reserves, that is pretty sweet.

Faced first Macro Cannon thingie the other day in a 3500pt battle (BA/Ultra vs Death Guard/Black Legion. BA guy bought the void shield upgrade for it which helped greatly turn 2 when outflanking meltas and deep striking DP/Oblits came in. Rather than blowing it up, they stripped void shield. (Av 15 is still tough)

It got 3 rounds off of shooting. Round 1fired mega shock blast thing at 2 LR, scattered, wounded a spawn.
Round 2 hit land raiders. 1 cover save made, 1 pen that stunned second LR.
Round 3 it centered on a squad of 9 infiltrating chosen of slaanesh. They dove to ground and made 2 cover saves, he rolled 2 ones, and killed the other 5.

It was then super punched by a GUO with armorbane. It blew up, killed 4 marines inside and the gun.

Wasn't bad. I would have fired the D cannon gun instead /shrug

From what I understood reading stronghold assault the weapon with a apocalyptic megablast could only be directed at flyers because it had sky fire but not intercepter, and the only anti ground option was to fire the two large blast destroyer weapon

The quake shell doesn't have Skyfire, it has special rules that let it damage fliers as a side effect of shooting at a ground target.

As a Blast weapon, it couldn't target fliers even if it did have Skyfire.

Thinking about getting a couple of fortifications myself, maybe a Chaos bastion for my wife's Slaanesh heavy CSM (2 10 man noise marine squads, 2 rhinos, 2 helbrutes, 2 chaos spawn and a 5 man bike squad with the chaos lord on the bike) and something for my infantry heavy Imperial guard/bike heavy SM's. My question is are they worthwhile? If they are, what's the best choice(s) for each?

sadly as has been noted the addition of Hull Points to fortifications has made them much less desirable than just using Aegis Defense Lines and Ruins which are not prone to being destroyed for their often high cost.

I love the Vengeance Weapons Batteries. 75pts each and you can take 2/Fortification slot. They are AV14, HP3, and can never be claimed by the enemy!
I deploy them withing controlling range of 1-2 objectives thus holding them. This allows the rest of my army to be more mobile and focus on grabbing the other objectives.
Weapon options are; Quad Icarus Lascannon, Punisher Gatling (Str5, 15 shots), Battlecannon (+10pts).

I do like the Aegis, but it is not scoring. For me the scoring ability is the primary reason I now take Fortifications.

The Firestorm Resoubt is also pretty awesome, plus you can add a Comms Relay as well.

Does it say somewhere buildings can claim objectives?

Unless it explicitly says so I can't see how they can, there not like transports that you buy with a squad nor are they units.

Yep, buildings bought as part of your detachment can; as can buildings you take later.

Sure does, conveniently enough in the main rulebook under Scoring Units last bullet point p134.
