Anyone remember the old Codex? Good. I quite liked how they had an evolution chart, Latin names and nicknames for all the Tyranid species that existed. My Latin knowledge goes as far as Scottish Standard Grades so I'd like some help with that, but here's my thoughts so far:

In order of where each new species appears in the Codex:

Tyranid Shrike- Classification: Tyranicus Gladius Avius
Common Name: Shrike, Winged Warrior
Evolution: From Tyranid Warrior, into Harridan

Tyranid Prime- Classification: Tyranicus Gladius Primus
Common Name: Leader-Warrior, Leader-Beast, Alpha
Evolution: From Warrior genus and Hive Tyrant, into Warrior

Harpy- Classification: Tyranicus Avius( does this look right?)
Common Name: Bomber, Harpy
Evolution: From Trygon

Venomthrope: Classification: Tyranicus Venenus
Common Name: Poisoner, Spore-Beast
Evolution: Classified, possibly related to Zoanthrope

Hive Guard: Classification: Tyranicus Scutuatus Secundus (can't think of anything better)
Common Name: Sharpshooter
Evolution: From Tyrant Guard

Pyrovore: Classification: Tyranicus Ignis
Common Name: Flamer, Torch, Fire-Beast
Evolution: Related to or evolves from Biovore

Trygon + Trygon Prime:
Classification: Tyranicus Ophidius Subterra Magnus, Tyranicus Ophidius Subterra Primus
Common Name: Serpent, Tunneller
Evolution: From Ravener

Mawloc: Classification: Tyranicus Subterra Oris Magnus
Common Name: Burrower, Mouth
Evolution: From Trygon

Tervigon: Classification: Tyranicus Gauntii Patris
Common Name- Gauntmaker, Manufactorum, Incubator
Evolution:Possibly from Norn Queen

Tyrannofex: Classification: Tyranicus ? ( I have no idea how to classify this one)
Common Name: Behemoth, Tyrannofex
Evolution: Possibly from Carnifex

Mycetic Spore: Classification: Tyranicus Domus
Common Name: Asteroid, Pod
Evolution: From Bio-ships?

That's my musings anyway. Let me know what you think, and if you've got any better Latin names or nicknames.

The Harpy is evolved from a Trygon. Tervigon from Norn Queen/Fex?

I can certainly see where that came from. Edited first post.
