This is a theoretical expansion of my 1500pts Guard list. i feel a little sad that there's no way i could afford to build something like this though.

HQ
Company Command - heavy bolter, plasma gun, regimental standard, astropath, Chimera

Troops
Platoon Command - heavy bolter, Chimera
-Infantry Squad - lascannon, commissar
-Infantry Squad - lascannon
-Infantry Squad - lascannon

Platoon Command - flamers (x4), Chimera
-Infantry Squad - autocannon, grenade launcher, commissar
-Infantry Squad - autocannon, grenade launcher
-Infantry Squad - autocannon

Platoon Command - meltaguns (x4), Chimera
-Infantry Squad - flamer, Chimera
-Infantry Squad - flamer

Veteran Squad - meltaguns (x3), carapace armor, Chimera
Veteran Squad - meltaguns (x3), carapace armor, Chimera

Fast Attack
Vendetta gunship
Armored Sentinel - autocannon

Heavy Support
Leman Russ squadron - lascannon x1
Demolisher - hull heavy flamer
Medusa (x2)

*all Chimeras are equipped with multi-lasers & hull-mounted heavy flamers

The plan is for most of the stuff to start on the board. The Vendetta, Sentinel, Veterans, and Platoon #3 outflank to mop up/seize objectives.

Just a quick question:
How are you planning on having platoon 3 and the Armour sentinal outflank?

The list looks viable, but small on 2500
And that’s a lot of chimera. Dropping them off the PCS and platoon frees up a lot of points

Good point; i misread. then it looks like the Armored Sentinel will have to be downgraded to a standard Sentinel in order to outflank. Also, i guess that means the Veterans and Platoon #3 would simply be held in reserves. either way, it helps when trying to fit that many models onto the board. another justification for Platoon #3 fitted with Chimeras is that their job is to grab objectives once the rest of the army hopefully clears away the bigger threats.

but OK, let's say i did remove Platoon 3's Chimeras. the best i'm seeing that can get me is either another tank or another melta-Veteran squad.

small for 2500? egads!

*clarification: that Leman Russ squadron is comprised of 2 tanks

Let me give an example of a 2500 a wrote up for Possible ‘Ard Boyz:

I doubt I’ll actually play; mainly I think the time limits will kill my army. But I may be fun to throw it against some of the people planning on going.
HQ: Officer of the Fleet 80
Plasma, melta, flamer 30
HQ2: Master of Ord 80

Elite
5 ratlings 50

1st Vet flamer meltax2 Demolitions 125 (reserve)

Apples to apples its not really much bigger then you're, but I've found one really large platoon really intimidates people!

I don't like to place my PCS and CCS in chimeras, cover seems to keep them alive.

Im a little confused by the HQ you took Azaghul. I dont think you can take Regimental advisors with a CCS. And you can take more then one advisor per a CCS so I dont think two HQs are necessary.

CCS are the only unit that advisers can be attached to.
I split mine up into two CCS on purpose. One CCS is stationary and gives the HW teams orders (hence the Master of Ord) The other CCS is more flexable and can move with the squads as needed, giving orders.

I have found the IG orders system very effective when 2 CCS are present.
