I am thinking of trying to convert a Jabberscythe from the new Beast book. Any ideas where to start. I have an idea for the head. I have misplaced my Beast men book and I need someone to describe it to me. I don't need direct quotes or anything, but just a general description for an idea base.

I think the new plastic Winged Nazgul have the potential to become Jabberslythes. It's plastic it would be easy to convert:

A vargulf would be another easy choice. One beastmen player in our community just uses this with no conversions. It's on a 50 mm base.

Or the Orcs & Goblins Wyvern. This is also on a 50mm base.

The High Elf Lord on Dragon has potential. But it would be my last vote just because it's so goody goody looking.

As far as base size -- I think most folks are basing their ghorgons and jabberslythes on 50mm bases until GW issues official base sizes. Until recently, Dragons and Giants were on 50mm bases and most large monsters still are. So I think 50 mm is your best bet.

You can always magnetize your 50mm base and stick it on a giant-sized base if GW ever issues a ruling. :)

Jabberslythes have thick tongues that they can use to shoot out and grab their victims.

They have "rudimentary" wings and are capable of "ungainly" flight.

They have claws capable of slicing through oaks.

They are so horrible that they make people go insane just looking at them.

Obviously, Jabberslythes are an homage to Jabberwockies in Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland."

But the description in the Beastmen book is vague -- which I think is good. They are super ugly, have big claws and will make you go crazy just by looking at them.

In the end, the Vargulf fits the bill best as far as I'm concerned. It fits in with the look of the army, if painted correctly. It has claws. It looks ungainly. You can easily imagine a tongue striking from it's mouth. Like the Razorgor, it looks mutated and decrepit. And I'm pretty sure it would be more insanity-inducing than your normal dragon. And the base size is the right size. Paint it to match the overall look of your army and you'll be in good shape.

Maybe green stuff a tongue hanging from it's mouth?
