Aah, Kill Team. Possibly one of my favourite things in all of 40k. However, I have no idea what sort of list to try out yet.

So, I'd like to see what you lot would take, as well as your thoughts on what armies benefit/suffer from this sort of game.

5 BT bikers, 2 with power weapons 1 with flamer, give the powers and the flamer scout

@gcsmith: you have to pick three different USR's to give to three seperate guys. They can't all have scout.

It should be noted that it's very easy to build pretty broken Kill Team lists. So, let's try to make some fun ones here and give each other ideas, eh?

My favorite so far:
5 man Tactical Squad
+Combi-Flamer
5 man Scout Squad
+4 Sniper Rifles
+Missile Launcher

With fifteen points left over, that either becomes camo cloaks for the scouts or a power sword+meltabombs for the tac squad Sergent.

EDIT: Specialists:
Tac squad Sergent has Feel No Pain.
Missile Launcher Scout has Tank Hunter.
Scout Sergent has Furious Charge.

Space Marines:

Tac Squad -
Power Fist Sgt w FnP
Meltagun w Steath
Heavy Bolter w Relentless

or

Tac Squad
Power Sword Sgt w Furious Charge
Plasma gun w Relentless
Missile Launcher w Slow and Purposeful (a way to get two relentless guys)

- These are just souped up tac squads, nothing too exciting -

Eldar
4 x Striking Scorpions - 1 w Prefered Enemy
Scorpion Claw & Stalker Exarch w FnP

4 x Dire Avengers
Diresword Exarch w Furious Charge

- My Scorpion exarch is painted up like the Predator, so I have to take them -

6 x Swooping Hawks
Sunrifle & Skyleap/Intercept Exarch

- Given each guy can Skyleap individually you can bring a veritable hail of grenades on your opponent. The Sunrifle could prove rather devestating too with Assault 6. Not sure what skills to give them though. -

IG

2 x Sentinel w Missile Launcher - 1 w Tank hunters
1 x Sentinel w Heavy Flamer - Hit and Run

Le Soldat Marbo - FnP

- Marbo's ridiculousness makes up for the lack of numbers here -

I thought a Deathwing Killteam would be insane, special rules PLUS they already have fearless? :D

As has been pointed out elsewhere though; Fearless won't help in the Kill Team win/lose roll, as its a Leadership test. Had someone else not pointed it out to me, I likely would have missed that tidbit myself.

Going to try something simple this weekend:

6 Noise Marines w/ Sonic Blasters
1 Champion w/Sonic Blaster & Doom Siren

I'm thinking the flexibility of Heavy3 or Assault2 may offset lack of numbers. Especially being able to split fire.

Likely not, but it'll be fun to try.

Will someone please tell me why everyone calls Marbo Le Soldat? I'll try my hand now.

ST Kill Team:

Sarge w/ power sword and Furious Charge

Guy w/ meltagun and Tank Hunters

Guy w/ plasma gun and Relentless

7 normal stormtroopers

Tau Kill Team: (This is Kill Team so I'll ignore the mandatory Commander rule)

Crisis Battlesuit with plasma rifle, missile pod and targeting array, plus Feel No Pain

6 Fire Warriors, including Shas'ui with markerlight and bonding knife, plus Relentless

4 Gun Drones

EDIT: Gotthammer, since Skyleap applies to the "unit" and each Hawk has to be on their own, shouldn't only the Exarch be able to leap?

EDIT EDIT: Whaddaya mean I can't have 2 Elites choices? Changing Tau list.

Question: Can I take a Summoned Greater Daemon in my Kill Team? It's a HQ choice, but it doesn't count towards chart.

Technically i'd try to take the Daemon and just 5 bog standard Chosen with 1 Champion. The Champion takes Feel No Pain, and two others get something like Fearless or Stealth? I dunno. 200pts tho.

wow. Talk about abusing the rules. I think I would just simply not play you if we were playing Kill Team at the same store.

Some Nids Options

Deathleaper*1 (Eternal Warrior)
Hormagaunt*10 (Furious Charge,Feel No Pain)
>swap hormagaunts for Gargoyles as applicable.

Lictor*3 (Feel No Pain, Furious Charge, Stealth)
>Characterful.

Warrior*3 (Feel No Pain, Eternal Warrior)
- Boneswords, Deathspitters, Toxin Sacs
Hive Guard*1 (Tank Hunter)
>incase of dreadnought lists.

Warrior*3 (Feel No Pain, Eternal Warrior, Furious Charge)
- LW&BS, Venom Cannon*1
Ripper Swarm*5
>a lot of wounds if they can't ID.

Harpy (Eternal Warrior/Feel No Pain)
- Regenerate, Venom Cannon, Adrenal Glands
OR
Harpy (Eternal Warrior/Feel No Pain)
- Venom Cannon
Spore Mines*3 (Swarm,Stealth)
>if there's any S10 in the enemy list, gogo eternal warrior. otherwise feel no pain to maximise longevity, or fleet if you're feeling confident.

Doom Of Malantai (Eternal Warrior)
- Mycetic Spore
Genestealers*5 (Furious Charge, Feel No pain)
>always lulzy, though with the lower models, cataclysm's not really going do much. spirit leech should be deadly enough.

Nids have a fair amount of flexibility, although you're basically making one unit choice, and fitting everything else around that. one elites choice is sadface. shame tervigons are out, but they are W6 Mcs.

I saw an amusing necron list that was 21 Warriors, with stealth, feel no pain, and swarm (for second stealth) that looked like it might hang around for a while.

hmm id say The unit must all skyleap at once as its a unit, and therfore they only drop one bomb, they act independently but honestly unit rules are *UNIT* rules

Sir Biscuit
03-08-2010, 06:13 PM
Except that in kill team each model BECOMES a unit unto itself.

Some people seem confused on the specialist rules, as well. You don't get to give them too a squad, you get to give them to individual models.

For Witch Hunters I'd probably go with one of these
7xStorm Troopers
+2 Melta guns
9xStorm Troopers
+ 2 Flamers
with Scout, Infiltrate and Feel no Pain
Or

Calids Assassin - Eternal Warrior
7xStorm Troopers
+2 Flamers
Infiltrate, Scout

Also this could be fun
Inquisitor
-Hammer of the Witches
-Scourging
-Divine Pronoucement
-Word of the Emperor
~Hexagramic Wards
~Force Weapon
3xFamiliars
3xAcolytes 3x Power armor 3xBolter

5xStorm Troopers

wow. Talk about abusing the rules. I think I would just simply not play you if we were playing Kill Team at the same store.

Seriously? You haven't even met me (or played me) and you're condemming me due to my 'uber' list of seven T3 4+ save guys with S3 guns getting a S4 blast if they deep strike?
Given they have to go into reserve, then may not all arrive when you want them, and then may die horribly on deep striking it seems fine to me.

They're a fluffy choice too - what's not kill-teamy about a bunch of Swooping Hawks dropping in to say 'hi'?

Another Guard list:

10 x Vets (grenadiers)

Bastonne w FnP
Flamer
Grenade Launcher
Sniper Rifle w Relentless
Missile Launcher w Stealth
Vox

For my Sister's I'd use

5 celestians
1 vet sister superior
2 melta guns
evisorator
Imolator

The melta gunners and the sister superior would all have feel no pain.

ragnarcissist

for my wolves, I run

wolf guard pack x8

1 terminator w/ PW an cyclone ML (FNP)
2 combi-plasma (scout and stealth)
5 bolter/ccw

or

wolf guard pack x10
4 combi- plasma (scout, infiltrate, stealth)
6 bolter/ccw

i like to replace their BP with a bolter as firepower is key to killteam. both these setups have one me multiple games against guard, tyranids, and tau

They can't. No USR can be chosen more than once.

Up to three models may be given a single USR, with no two of the same USRs permitted.

if i ran a razorback, could i give it infiltrate? just a curious question. i dont usually run vehicles in killteam but if i did would this be legal? and would you as an opponent be cool with it?

It's hard to have a problem with infiltratiing Razorback when Valkyries already have Scouts.

Haven't seen the codex yet but I think a blinged-out Librarian Furioso would make an awesome killteam.

Otherwise I'd take a Deathwatch painted Sternguard but I'm not sure what the best load out is.

For kill teams, I run:

Plague Marines x6
Champion with Power Weapon
Melta Gunx1
Plasma Gunx1

And for specialists, I usually give the champion preferred enemy, the plasma gunner will get Relentless, and the melta gunner would maybe get scout, fleet, or infiltrate, since he needs to be close to much of anything.

some more options for the 'Nids:

1x Hive guard (feel no pain)
3x Warriors with devourers (1x eternal warrior,1x furious charge)
10x Gargoyles

Or:

11x genestealers (1x furious charge)
1x Genestealer Broodlord (eternal warrior)
1x Zoanthrope (feel no pain)
The broodlord could be changed for a second Zoanthrope for more shooting power.

Or:

1x Zoanthrope (feel no pain)
4x Raveners with devourers (1x eternal warrior, 1x furious charge)

What do you guys think?

Here is what I'm working on:

Veteran Squad
- 2x grenade launcher
- 1x flamer
- 1x missile launcher team

Ratling Squad (Cadian Sniper models, not the hobbit looking freaks)
- 10x snipers

Something about Imperial Guard staying stationary and shooting down range while the enemy advances just rings true. I'm going to paint the name of each sniper on the base and keep track of their kills.

Forces my opponent to kill 10 dudes before I start falling back.

Every sniper has stealth and infiltrate. That will give me 3+ cover saves (2+ if I go to ground). My only question is does infiltrate still work?

Probably won't happen. Isn't the Armor Limit '34'. F+S+R less than or equal to 34?

The Furioso is 13/12/10=35

No armor limits for Kill Team; you're thinking of Combat Patrol. If you can fit it into 200 points by normal codex rules given the Kill Team FoC (0 HQ, 0-1 Elites, 0-1 Fast Attack, 0-2 Troops, 0 Heavy Support), you can take it.

Tynskel

sweet.

Then, yeah, you can take a Libby Dread. Will come out to just under ~200 points.

I am super angry counter attack, furious charge, infiltrating Dreadnought that Flies! has a flak cannon, magna grapple, and Uberness!
