So upon seeing the new BA dex, I came up with a flavorful & fluffy list. I really don't think it can be super competetive, but here it is:

The Blood Host

HQ
Dante
Sanguinor

Elite
Sang Priests (x2)
+ Jump Pack

Troops
Sang Guard
+Infernus
Sang Guard
+Infernus
Assault (x5)
+ Infernus Pistol, +PW
Assault (x5)
+ Infernus Pistol, +PW

Fast Attack
Storm Raven
+ MM
Storm Raven
+MM

Baal Pred

Run Dante + Sanguinor with Sang Guard w/ Sang Priests, making them pretty survivable. Deep Strike them in. Assault dudes in Storm Ravens. Baal... well, honestly, I don't know doing what. Trying to kill something, I guess. Again, only 24 models & 3 Vehicles. Can't imagine it'd be too terribly competetive.

Thoughts?

BTW--Looks like a max 30 unit of Death Co w/ Jump Packs will set you back 1050. Holy Crap.

As I said in the other thread, this list will likely be a glass cannon. But it will be one beautiful glass cannon!

Also, I would trade the Baal for a Speeder or MM attack bike

P.S.- Remmeber to not post point costs until after the codex "comes out"

Wasn't sure about that. I'll delete them. I invite anyone else to post potential lists here, as well!

One thing you may have overlooked. "The Sanguinator" (and Mephiston for that matter) are not Independent Characters. Thus, they cannot join units and have to run on their own. I am assuming this was not an oversight by GW as when you read each of their codex entries they present them as solo. One is too dark and foreboding a loner to hang with his mates and the other is too high and holy to be in their presence! Just something to think about with these two most expensive of HQ options - the enemy can target them if he can see them!!!

Actually didn't know that about Sanguinor until just now. It'll still be a pretty list :) Plus I'll have him in reserve, dropping from the sky like a winged turd.

I like this list alot actually reminds me of when I tried to run a Grimnar-wing list.

See, I'm all about fluff. I like to win, but I'm okay if I have a lot of fun trying out fluffy armies.

Well it wasn't a terribly effective list just fun. I agree about fluff whole heartily.

I knew that Mephiston wasn't a IC, but I thought Sanguinor was.

I am also surprised that none of the lists I have seen so far have any of the mainline battle tanks.

All tanks, except for land raiders, are FAST. Vindicators and Predators too!

A Predator Annihilator being able to reposition and still fire everything! A vindicator being able to charge forward 12" and fire!!

Tynskel - I agree on the tanks. My tentative list includes 2 Baal Predators and a Vindicator to obscure all of my Jump Infantry. The idea of a fast Vindicator is truly too enticing to pass up.

I haven't hammered out my points yet, but I really like the BA codex. It really has more in common with the Eldar Codex and tactics than any other marine army. It's like Eldar-Marines!!!

The points cost of the specialty units (HQs, Death Company, Sanguinary Guard, Honor Guard) are so high that you really will be limited to a small specialist force if you go that route. I haven't had a marine army since 3rd edition, but this codex really appeals to me and suits my playstyle. I really wish they would release a Stormraven though. It is really unfortunate to not have a kit for what is quite possibly the key to making the army work. (Just like Tervigons!) Why are they doing this to us???

Stormravens are big (gotta carry a dread and 12 guys!)- GW is probably still working on the model. Don't want your model to bend under its own wait on the Valkyrie stand, do you?

I don't know most of the costs yet, myself.

I am stoked that the characters are awesome, and that they aren't needed too! (sometimes I feel that the Space Marines NEED to take a special character.) I have all sorts of commanders (I have made my own 'Masters of the Chapter' in terminator armor for the Blood Angels.

But a basic list I have been thinking about:

HQ
Master Teligon
2 Thunder Hammers, Terminator Armor, Digital Weapons

ELITES
Sanginary High Priest Shaharrim
Terminator armor, power weapon, Combi-Melta (I heard these guys can wear TA)
Epistolary Leximarti
Furioso w/ librarian Upgrade
Terminator Squad
10 Terminators, Hv Flamer, Assault Cannon
Dedicated Transport: Land Raider Redeemer w/Multi-Melta and Extra Armor

Troops
Tactical Squad
10 Marines, Combi-Melta, Meltagun, Teleport Homer
Dedicated Transport: Razorback w/ Twin-Assault Cannon
Assault Squad
10 Marines, 2 Flamers, Pair Lightning Claws
Death Company
10 Deathcompany
Dedicated Transport: Rhino
Death Company Furioso
Dedicated Transport: Drop Pod

FAST ATTACK
Baal w/ Flamestorm and Hv Flamers

Hv SUPPORT
Vindicator
Siege Shield, Extra Armor
Predator Annihilator
Lasssssscannnnnoonnnnnnsssss
Predator Annihilator
Lasssssscannnnnoonnnnnnsssss

Have the Captain, Sanginary Priest, and Assault cannon combat squad teleport, and the Hv Flamer and Sgt. in the Redeemer.

This list is probably over 2000 but it is a start for me!
