Hey guys,

I am looking for a sci fi wargame with these specifics.

*It needs to be a simple game but hard to master.
with simple, I mean a rulebook that isn't 30+ pages full of rules about nitpicking the smallest things.

*Price would be preferable less than GW :p I would love free rules but this isn't something wide spread yet.

*I would like vehicle combat as well as troops. So a decent army building component.

Who can help me out here?

I checked out warpath but atm it seems to be on a hiatus. I was thinking of getting a starter box, but I am concerned that those miniatures will become useless when the new version comes out.

Cheers!

If you aren't hung up on the vehicles (thought there are remote drones and giant mecha TAGs) I would reccomend looking into infinty.

Truly ingenious table top game that is very similar to Xcom and Shadowrun and other such games in its execution, but unique in its background.

provided you build a list with certain basic concepts in mind you can make anything in the game work, the balance is amazing.
This balance also helps significantly keeping the cost down and you can get a decent 300pt (the largest standard size) army for roughly 100 dollars AUD.

Also maybe Beyond The Gates Of Antares http://www.beastsofwar.com/beyond-the-gates-of-antares/closer-ghar-gates-antares/

looks like it is getting a plastic starter set in the near future. not really my cuppa myself, but does look very well done

I'd suggest Warzone: Resurrection. Plenty of layers of tactics in it, and the minis are simply gorgeous.
