View Full Version : Partial Scoring has officially arrived in X-Wing

As per the new Tournament Rules (published yesterday) FFG has (finally) embraced a mode of partially scoring high-HP ships:



Additionally, each player receives half the total squad point value (rounded down) of each enemy large ship whose combined total hull and shields have been reduced to half or below.


It is limited to 2x2-base ships, so the "Tyranny of the Turret" (/irony) may not be over but *finally* they have changed the scoring mechanic so 2x2 ships with all the bells and whistles are no longer a safe bet for much of your MoV.

Considering how this comes on the heels of the new starter, I guess FFG needed to figure out a way how to stop the dominance of the Fat Ships since Wave 4 (as they emerged as a Phantom-counter most prominently) from killing the competetive game for new arrivals. What they came up with seems like a sound compromise at first glace.

That certainly makes sense to me, especially given just how rock hard some ships can be made.
