I don't have a copy of the BA codex, but based off my regular space marine codex a 5 man assault squad with a land raider should be at least 340 points. Is something a lot cheaper in the BA dex?

Erm... Ummm... RAM! lol

Seriously though, by getting rid of one DAKKA pred and downgrading the Reclusiarch to a Librarian I could put Multimeltas on all the Land Raiders and Even buy some attack bikes or something.

In the Blood Angel Codex, Assault Squads get a 35 point reduction towards a "dedicated Transport." when they remove their jump packs. So, since Land Raiders are dedicated transports in C:BA they can take 6 of them for 205 pts.

Assault squads taking off their jump packs get a 35 point discount on dedicated transports.

When I first read the codex, this is the first sort of list that came to mind. Deep Striking Land Raiders with scoring units FTW.

Duke,

You are on the right track for 'Ard Boyz.

6 Land Raiders should make anyone piss their pants. You are not screwing around when you suggest 6 Land Raiders--- you are thinkin' 'Ard Boyz. No One Can field 6 Land Raiders and still have points left over for an army!!

However, you need to be able to take on the Leafblower--- he simply has more tanks than you.

Some suggestions:

HQ 525
275 Sanguinor
The Exemplar
250 Mephiston
The Lord of Death

ELITES 250
125 Furioso
Dread, Blood Talons
125 Furioso
Dread, Blood Talons

TROOPS 1325
325 Assault Squad
5 Marines, Meltagun
Dedicated Transport: Land Raider Redeemer, Multi-Melta
325 Assault Squad
5 Marines, Meltagun
Dedicated Transport: Land Raider Redeemer, Multi-Melta
340 Assault Squad
5 Marines, Power Weapon, Meltagun
Dedicated Transport: Land Raider Redeemer, Multi-Melta
335 Assault Squad
5 Marines, Power Weapon, Flamer
Dedicated Transport: Land Raider Redeemer, Multi-Melta

Hv SUPPORT 400
200 Stormraven
Raven, Twin-Linked Multi-Melta
200 Stormraven
Raven, Twin-Linked Multi-Melta

Both Sanguinor and Mephiston have Chariots and Furioso Escorts. Those 4 units can do some serious ChOp cHoP!

This could probably be optimized even more.

Overall, I have been hearing good things with a mixed combined Baal/ Jump Assault Marine army- something might be worth checking into.

INteresting list tynskel, I agree that leafblower would be tough, just curious, what does leafblower brig that is good vs av14?

2 Vets squads in Valkyries, 3 Meltas each
2 Medusas
1 Mantacore

that's what I know, off hand- The Medusas have a good chance of destroying a Land Raider per turn. (48" Str 10, 2d6 Pen, AP1)

If you are worried about that sort of back line, then simply take Dante with a Sang Guard squad and a priest. Give them all infernus pistols and slap 2-3 power fists in there too. With Dante in the squad they don't scatter, so you can literally drop them 3" from a high armour vehcile and watch a medusa or what ever go up in smoke. Then with the combined 2+ armour saves and then FNP added on top, I can't seem them dropping the squad very easily. If they do, they've just wasted a whole TURN of shooting to do so.

You can achieve the same result with a normal assault squad with 2 meltas. Only scattering 1-6", you have a good chance of being in range with the meltas.

So personally, I would deep strike at least 2 squads, maybe combat squad them into 2 tank hunters (melta) and 2 combat (power fist) + the dante guard squad.

I'm thinking of running a list similar to this for 'Ard Boyz...only my strategy is to start everything in reserve so that my opponent has nothing to shoot at. Then I can start bringing the lascannons in from reserve and shoot at the Chimeras or other annoying vehicles. Then outflank Baal Predators with Flame Cannons to take on the stragglers.

Just a thought.

This sounds like a good idea, but remember your opponent will have Mystics to get a free shot at you-- which could wipe out that 250-400 points before they do anything.

However, deep striking is the way to go- get in close, blow open those tanks/transports.

I am thinking Heavy Support in a Deep Strike Blood Angels should be Mortis Dreads with autocannons- they are cheaper than in Space Marines! Drop Pod them in for good sights and the maximal cover from the pods.

um s10 ordnance.. leafblower can blast away LRs... there's also a bunch of vets floating around. i think if the LRs could stick around long enough, they could do some serious damage to all those wimpy chimeras floating about
