Hello all,

I would like to model some shotguns for my IG vets. I was wondering if anyone had a good site or suggestions for modeling shotguns?

Thanks.

The simplest shotgun conversion is to cut off the las barrel. I cut off just enough to leave a "ring" around the smaller barrel. Then I cut off the las magazine. That's usually enough. If you feel up to it you can sculpt a grip on the stock of the rifle with the putty of your choice.

I cut the barrel off of my lasguns and glued two pieces of brass tubing to the front of the gun. Here is a pic http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Tz4Pra0wDcY/SnZb4teviTI/AAAAAAAAAJs/T6RpJ-E-VrE/s400/praetorianvets.jpg

Cutting up a lasgun and the two-barreled approach does wonders. Additionally it may be worht checking around with SM players who use a lot of scouts, there's a good chance they'll have some leftover shotguns.

Sorry I don't have pictures, but I take a Lasgun, chop it off sating at the sights, right behind the power pack, then take a length of 1/8" plastic rod and attach that flush to the top of the left ove piece of stock. Then take the foward grip off of a Bolter and file it down the inside so that it will hug the rod, and put it flush to the stock piece, on the bottom of the rod. Lastly, take a 1/16" piece of plastic rod, and cut it just shorter than the length of the new "barrel' of the shotgun, and glue it to the bottom of the rod, to act as a "guide" for the pump magazine. I'll try to get a picture up tonight if you'd like.

Try cutting off the lasgun to the hand that holds the gun. From there cut off the end of an IG flamer. By end I mean you want the barrel of the weapon as well. So then you glue the end of the flamer to the lasgun and the lasguns then looks like a spas 12. it takes minimal work and once you get a happy medium you are golden.

I will try to post pics to show what I mean.

The first idea is the easiest , and the scout shotguns work well .

I went with a more pump-action look.

It works like this:

Cut a lasgun down to just past the clip.Remove the stock for the 'pistol grip' look
Drill two holes in the end right beside each other and enlarge with a hobby knife as needed.
Take some 0.040" plastic rod and glue two 1" lengths together (you will cut it down a little later).
Insert your new barrels into the lasgun grip. Allow the glue to cure fully.
Take some plastic tube with a 0.040" hole and cut a piece a little wider than the hand of your guardsman.
Cut this down the centre with a hobby saw, and glue to the underside of the barrel for a pump action grip.
Construct the front sight from soem 0.010" x 0.040" plasticard.

It works better with Catachans because their lasguns come separate anyway, but I'm sure it can be modified for Cadians.

Nice,

I will try that. I will also try using lasguns and putting the barrel grips from bolters on them. Should that work I will try posting a picture or two.

Here you go, tutorial with pictures for every step of the way using standard plastic lasguns.

Also a cool RPG in there too....
