JOE WINS AGAIN

The first Epic event at Mansfields lovely new wargaming venue the Eye of the Storm saw 14 players battling for the prizes. When the dust had settled Joe Jephson emerged victorious for his 3rd tournament win of the year - and each with a different race.
The battle for 2nd+3rd was incredibly close with going into the final round 8 players still in contention but ended up going to Sam Dale - in his first EA event for 5 years, and Mark Preston. Joe has now strengthened his stranglehold on the Championship with a 13 point lead going into the last 3 events of the year after poor weekends for his closest challengers.

In probably the highest standard painting competition we have ever had Sam Dale (judges choice) and Ben Skinner (players choice) took the honours though mentions have to go to Sam Roberts and Chris Steel who were unlucky to lose out. Chris Steel took home the most sporting prize - just emerging from an 8 person tie with the final vote. Dave Candler, in his first EA event, took home the coveted dice of dave and the plastic spoon after sealing last place by moving his SM under his own orbital bombardment.

I think everybody who attended agreed that the event went very well and the venue is a welcome addition to the calendar. 3 events now close out the year - Stockport Stockade on October 9-10 http://www.flameon.co.uk/index.php?option=com_agora&task=viewtopic&id=2910 at another new venue in the NWGC , the sold out Open War at WHW, and finally the Epic UK GT at the Eye of the Storm in Mansfield http://www.epic-uk.co.uk/epicukgt.shtml.
