Something like this?

Clever idea on the actual base but I'm looking for a more secure holding for the stem to the model. As it is right now, my SR doesn't fit to securely and I just don't want it to fall.
On my Vulture I have a piece of brass rod drilled into the stem and body of the model. This has thus far stopped the two coming apart when i don't want them to. Alas I'm not able to provide a picture.
You'd be surprised by how well the stand actually fits. I have this question all the time when I use my FW Warkoptas as the attachment groove is not as good a fit as the GW kits and no where near as deep. My answer usually come in the form of picking up the base and turning it so the 'kopta is actually hanging underneath it, but still attached. Have you actually built the Storm Raven and seen if it falls off? I don't think I have seen anyone else have particular problems with that model.
Would it be possible to attach a nut to the base of the flyer and underneath the flying base and then use a rod with thread at either and and screw them together?
I do have it assembled and found that although the model is balanced a little tap and the model tips backwards. I tried gluing some 1/32" x 1/8" diameter magnets to both ends but that puts more space between the stem and the model causing it to tip every time. I also read a blog where someone drilled out the receiving end of the SR and the stem just went up and through the model. Not interested in doing that though.
I use these (see link below) for all of my Forgeworld fliers. The only addition I make is using 10 minute Epoxy to glue the rod through the base. You have to drill a hole in your flight base to match or use their flight stands (very cool bases).

The flight stands pack neatly with the flyers by making a matching T-shaped slot in Battlefoam.
I'll try to take some picks and post them up.
