Don't know who he is, but that sounds like a cool thing for any guest to do. Try asking any of the old washed up sci-fi actors who travel the circuit to do this, and I'm sure you'll get a "what's in it for me" attitude.

Does lets play style video and other games related content on youtube, met him at gemucon last year and he's a funny bloke.
It wouldn't surprise me if you're right about the former stars.
