Oh, and everyone - check out Constantine on Amazon Prime.
It's really, really good.
13 Episodes being made, and may yet be picked up for a second season.
Think Supernatural, but better. And with a mouthy Scouser for a lead.

I've jsut thrown away my 30day free trail of prime
I've just received two - and it gives you a free £5 Amamamamazon voucher, which is nice.
Will dig them out when I get home and PM you the code if you like.
I'm re-watching babylon 5 for the 5th or 6th time, then onto the only season of Above and Beyond
Good taste Sir!
Sadly, I have to report that despite having had it for over a year, I still haven't watched Above and Beyond.
I'm a terrible nerd sometimes :(
Thinking about Babylon 5 reminded me of this : http://www.starwreck.com/
well worth a watch :)
Gotham is getting better.
Agents of SHIELD when I get in.
Then moar Constantines.
Does anyone know if there are any lovecraftian TV shows? period (or contemporary) detective stuff with cosmic horror/mythos stuff?
Dying to watch something like this lately but can't seem to find anything :(
There's not anything period that I know of.Quote:

In terms of atmosphere, 'True Detective' season 1 is pretty explictly a Lovecraft tale, despite the ostensible absence of gribbly things with tentacles. It certainly hit all my Lovecraft buttons.
They're a bit older now, but 'Buffy' and especially 'Angel' were quite obviously Lovecraft-inspired; they took all the themes of Lovecraft, then used humour and lampshade hanging to allow everyone to enjoy it. Season 5 of Buffy had a genuine Elder God as the villain, and 'Angel's entire plot arc from season 2-4 was about an Elder God gaining access to this world... Not to mention an Elder God bound to human form joining Team Angel towards the end of season 4 and being far and away one of the more interesting characters.
It's not Lovecraftian (because it's mostly a sort of updated cyberpunk), but 'Person Of Interest' is dealing with the idea of omnipotent, malign superintelligences quite nicely as of season 4.
Your main problem with Lovecraft is that horror TV series are rare as rocking horse s*** in the first place, and Lovecraft's kind of goofy, all told. There's some great ideas in there, really great, but they're so bleak, and all the stories are kind of the same, not to mention the deplorable racism... So he's kind of a hard sell. The period drama thing is something you'd think would work, but honestly, the kind of people who want period drama and the kind of people who like stories about octopus-headed monsters, well... There's not a whole lot of overlap there.
Yeah, basically 'True Detective' is it, I'm afraid.
there was a Masters of Horror tv series years ago, a load of big name directors did one tv film each, I seem to recall there being something like a dozen episodes. a couple of them I think were based on Lovecraft, pretty sure I watched Dreams in the Witch House...
yes, here it is
