I thought this thread was going to be about the rising prices or something, GW has the best customer service I've ever had to deal with, if something has a defect you just have to call them up and...

I would go with taking them as carry on luggage, it seems like the safest way to make sure nothing happens to them, and if there is a incident at the airport I'm sure other people will be bringing...
