Btw if you have the new codex's then straight away a new rulebook it doesn't quite make snese, as your Codex woudl be outdated again. Whyt not wait till the new edition so your codex will be updated...

You choose. So if you fire with your Melta you would have to use your Melta in the assault.
If you chose the Pistol and Chainsword you would shoot with that and assault with that as well.
