Thanks for writing this up, it was an interesting read.
It works from a rules standpoint now , but would you really want to take a low AV short ranged anti-tank? at that point you might be better off just doing what daemons do well and assaulting it.
Looks pretty solid.
I might swap one unit of horrors for another unit of dnets. I'm not a big fan of casting with the horrors though, so another forward threat seems more valuable
So do people think 2 units of screamers will be enough to handle 2-3 riptides or dread/wraith knights?
I really don't think summon is they way to go and 2x 11 horrors just for warp charges means I...
I was tempted to drop a flamer from the grinder and maybe run one as tzeench and Phlegm, but I'm not sure I need the help to kill marines, the S8 is nice. I went with the Slaansh so they can all hit...
Kherald
a lesser and greater reward, jugger, hated locus
2x 3 Nurglings
13 Flesh hounds
20 Seekers
champ
I wouldn't count out Slaansh grinders. You are spending a lot to sit a battle cannon in the back if you go Nurgle. Soulgrinders are pretty durable and pretty handy in assault.
I would go with just special weapons and trust yourself to not get them in to a combat they can't win.
You might be better of with some nurgle spawn over the drake. Just because it is one more threat that is coming at them sooner. It would also be a hell of a tar pit with invisibility.
I think unless you are taking psych powers you are better of running a greater daemon over a daemon prince.
I have had fate weaver scatter 11" on to terrain roll a 1 to take a wound fail the 3++ and the re-roll to take a wound then fail LD test on 9 to run away. It was a bad way to start the game.
Anyone worked out exactly hoe many models you can fit in 2" of it ?
It is also frustrating when they will not even hear you out. I can see the confusion about FNP but as the Rev pointed out it is pretty clear. Good new for necrons vs blood angel death stars too.
It looks great and would add some so badly need shooting to a daemon army , but why did it have to be in the elite slot ? I could see these being an alternative to daemon princes , but I don't think...
Necron builds
I think the general net builds ( usually strongish and easy to play) are:
AV 13 wall
an overlord
royal court with lances and a solar pulse
They are first and foremost tank hunters, So they need the war scythe. Although the thought of a ant- hoard lord with a 2+ save and a gantlet of fire is kinda interesting.
So I think the 2 builds...
I was wondering what you guys thought about the 2+ and 3++ save options for necron overlords. The war scythe , barge and maybe even MSS seem like easy choices , but the cost to go from a 3+ to a 2+...
Denied flank is also a big one. If you overload one side you can make it more of an even fight as they have to move to get you and you can focus half your army against half their army.
Destroyer lords work with wraiths because of their speed , but I have not found them needing the extra close combat punch and they also have to start rolling for terrain then.
If he dose every give you trouble swap the scarabs for wraiths and you should be pretty set. I have play daemons for a long time and Necrons for a while now and it is a bad match up for the daemons,
Melta will almost differently not be needed. A transport for the Librarian could cause some headaches.
Rest looks solid enough.
Mind shackles if there is even a small chance of him getting into CC.
