They don't get the benefit from the Icon when they deep strike, but can still be effective deep striking. I personally perfer to have them on the board shooting as much as possible, so I set them up...

Things to include in a CSM army are: Plague Marines, Berserkers, Obliterators, Rhinos, winged Daemon Prince. That should get you started.
