If you can fit one a 5 man assault squad deep striking in a land raider is worth the 315 pts. If for no other reason then to see the look on your opponents face....

I agree...but why not stuff 10 in there? 10 combi meltas are pricy 335? But still half the cost of the knight. Or a suicide command squad with just 5 melta guns and 5 melta bombs. 205...

The best feeling of course is taking a strange build and winning. That being said you start buying ships more for the cards then the actual ship. Still hitting Vader at range 3 with 6 dice of damage...

There will probably be a rule where you can't add regular modifications. Can you imagine a engine upgrade and/ or expert handling on it? This huge ship barrel rolling thru space......

For 30 points just take 3 naked ones and start smashing it into ships....

Totally acceptable. And just to clarify my position I always attributed the rule to the model with the power lance and the unit charging it. Nabterayl brought up a hypothetical situation to point out...

Absolutely no good reason. :) But like I said charging into lances seems to be a bad idea in real life. Making it dangerous in the game seems to make sense too...
