I won a small tournament with my Tyranids this weekend. I don't go into detail with each game, but point out how the army can perform very differently depending on the needs. Hope you enjoy it:)

The IG list seemed more tweaked, but is was still surprising that it had such a fieldday.

Ha - I didn't even consider the consequences of the terrain setup rules when it comes to Y-stealers. That is just crazyness:D

My list was:

2 x winged hive tyrants, 2 x devourers, rulebook powers, one with old advesary

2 x Tervigons, furios and poison, catalyst

2 x 10 Termagants

It is 1850 pts. Tyranid vs IG. Both armies are test armies for the Danish ETC qualifier in Feburary....

I wouldn't claim cover for a Nid monster behind a termagant unit. Put in a layer of hive guards between them and I would happily claim cover for both the hive guard and the tervigon/trygon:)

I have never played with the terrain setup rules, so this is all speculation.

Playing my Nids I would go for at large ruin at the center of the board. I try to dominate midfield with Tervigons...

I think a jetcouncil will fare better than a shining spear hammer. Even with fortune they are killable with low AP weapons, and they are really expensive pointwise.

Furiosos (and other dreads) are always good against tyranid swarms because lots of the small critters cannot hurt them and you can use that to direct their assualt to where you would rater recive it.

I think 6th ended the days where you can drive eldar vehicle speartips into the enemy;) Once they make contact they will be easily killed. Gravtanks are much better hiding and shooting at a distance...

The Nid list is very(!) low on synapse. His flyrant will be... well flying, and only the gargoyles will be able to keep up and even they may struggle.
Shoot the zoans and the termagants and...
