Thread: 40k movie

    Default 40k movie

If you could design the movie what would you have in it?
I would go with Imp Guard vs Tyranids on an agri world, have a good ratio of cityfirhgting and open plains and forests, and for the coup de gras definitly have Michael Biehn as the IG commander. The climax of the movie would have Space Wolves drop pod in just when all hope is lost. Epic battle scenes of Leman Russ companies, Storm Troopers in Valks, artillary barrages, and guardsmen in final stands

Horus Heresy or nothing if you want non-40k players to watch it. The Horus Heresy could have some really epic battles and at the same time the interesting story arc would bring in enough people to make spending the amount of money necessary to make a good movie actually worth spending. I would suggest a trilogy though.

It could replace the eventual remake of Starship Troopers. As long as the sequels don't suck as bad. I was always a bit iffy about movies based on wargames, but since PP is doing it with Monsterpocalypse, and Tim Burton is onboard, I guess I might have to revise my opinion.

Gaunt. The first few Gaunts Ghosts books as a series.

What would be amazingly fun, yet also so awful it might be good (maybe) would be the battle at Orks Rift. Just a blow-by-blow remake of Zulu, but with Praetorians and Orks. If its in CG Michael Cain can still play the same part.

First War for Armageddon. Space Wolves, Imperial Guard, Grey Knights/Inquisition vs World Eaters, Daemons of Khorne, Khornate Cultists, and Angron.

Are we looking this at fanboy bolter porn, or something that you'd try to market to the rest of the world also?

would prefer tv series, can draw out narrative so it would not just be random violence,.
only problem is that although i would state the the small screen has more artisitc creadibility these days, perfect for capturing the newances of the fluff, crittically acclaimed dramas always talk about peoples feelings which would be near unachevable in a dystonian sci-fi universe. plus like most science fiction any production would be wide open to "generic scifi technobable" critiisims for dialogue.

id say its best to stick with the black library: at least literature is able to bypass the inevitable "dumbing down", not the best term i admit but ill stick with it for want of a more articulate vocabulary, for a "mass audience".

Honestly, what I would like in a 40k movie isn't what I would end up seeing. Probably some big buget Micheal Bay bolter porn with a pg-13 rating to rake in the cash from all the little ones.
Now, I would love to see a true character peice, the common man or woman engulfed in the middle of a conflict between imperial and choas forces. Showcasing the hopeless and superstitious nature of the people, while presenting both sides in more of an antagonist role while our protaginist is just trying to find a safe place.

For me, the Horus Heresy series or the Eisenhorn series. (Perhaps becacuse they are the only BL books I've been reading. I would start with Horus Rising as a duology of films, the first the Battle of Sixty-Three-Nineteen and the Whisperheads, the second one the bloodbath on Murder and the Interex affair. It would be awesome. Each novel could easily be split into two films to maximise profit and awesomeness.

The Eisenhorn series would introduce viewers to the 41st Millenium through the eyes of the citizens rather than the military, to dispel the notion that the entire Imperium is constantly at war. Also, Eisenhorn is awesome.

Just do a Sharpe style Gaunt's ghost style series...

However the process of robo-insemination is far too complex for the human mind!
