Reading through a thread a little while ago, and skimming through my copy of Eldar codex, I got to thinking rather absent-mindedly throughout the day on things that I think could help make the Eldar more...Eldar. More...customizably specialized. Keep in mind, these aren't things I thought TOO hard on, but I came up with two ideas:
1) Rather than having Dire Avengers the only Aspect that you can take as troops, I think the selection for which Aspect represents the bulk of your force should be in the list-building stage - that is, all the Aspects are normally Elites, but with a small little box in the army selection part of the codex that says, "You may take *insert Aspect name here* as Troops, but if you do so, you may not take them as Elites, and they will be the only Aspect that you may take as Troops." I think that would really cut down on the "two minimum Dire Avenger Squad" lists that seem to be the basic go-to for lots of Eldar players, and would make for lots of cool customization. Alternatively, or possibly additionally, maybe make the various Phoenix Lords make their respective Aspects also able to be taken as Troops.
2) I think that certain things, like War Walkers, Falcons, etc, should be able to be taken as either Fast Attack OR Heavy Support - representing the Autarch's preference for how he uses them. Does he use the War Walkers as mobile fire support? Then they're heavy support. Does he use them as scouts, coming in from the flanks to harry the opponent's sidelines? Then they're fast attack. That would be the fluff justification for it, and I think that it really would make for a lot of really cool, really fun lists.
3) Make Wraithguard cheaper and in plastic. >_> That one doesn't need to be said, but I did it anyway.
Thoughts? What changes do YOU want in the next Eldar codex?
