Just ordered some forge world pieces, now what?

So as per the title, I've ordered a few Forge World bits - specifically, the Blood Angels terminator shoulder pads - and am wondering if there's any specific type of preparation I would need to do to the pieces before priming/painting them.

As a first time customer of FW, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Clean them in warm just warm soapy water to clean off any residue
Usual flash trim
check for any warping and use hot air or water to soften the resin and adjust be very careful not too much heat
With shoulder pads I usually roughen up the inside where the glue will be to give it more "teeth" to bond
be careful with small delicate parts

As Grimnar said. Also be sure to prime them with a non water based spray primer. If you try to prime them with an acrylic it will just run off.

So GW primer won't cut it?

Hmm...I have never tried GW primer, I suppose it would be ok.

GW primer works just fine, I prefer army painters primers personally but GWs will do the job

I always use acrylic primer on resin, without any trouble.

First prep your piece by removing any trimmings etc. Then soak in soapy water for a decent amount of time, like easily an hour or two and after that use an old tooth brush to give it a good scrubbing. Once you've scrubbed and you think you're done, scrub some more. You have to get rid of that greasy stuff they use to make the models separate from their molds easier. With the old tooth brush, it's imperative to get into every nook & cranny.

After that, just glue using superglue, and apply any primer/paint as you would normally use. No need to go through all the hassle of finding special paints and such. the washing and scrubbing is enough when done properly.

What everyone has so far is spot on. I would like to add something I know the FW studio do and I've very much taken to; Car Primers.

Most hardware stores and any specialist car/auto shops should sell these. Get a nice thin coat on the models before using GW primers. It gives a much cleaner, smother coat as the GW primers can (especially if you haven't washed ALL the mold release agent off) pool. It's then a pain to paint back over before doing your main paintjob, though by no means impossible.
