Superhero Comics 101

I haven't read those comics, but from what a friend has told me there was a multiverse pileup. Each Spider is from their own universe - for example Peter Parker is from the 'normal' Marvel universe, but Miles Morales was the Spiderman in the Ultimates universe - but when the multiverse crash happened the Spider Totem (not sure what that is) pulled all of the Spiders out of the wreckage and they ended up in one place. Which confused the heck out of them all.

I think in the Ultimates universe Peter Parker lived there and took Miles as apprentice when he was exposed to the same stuff he was? And then Parker got murdered by one of his many enemies, so Miles took up the job full time.

Yeah, but with the big mashup of everything in the Secret Wars setting, it's gotten to be a bigger mess, and then the resulting effective reboot of the Marvel universe will change some things, i.e. Parker ends up dead or something. If he's gone for good, at least "Renew Your Vows" gave him a nice send-off, where he fights a bad guy with his wife MJ and their super-powered daughter and, in the end, "renewing his vows" is less about the marriage vows and more about his personal vow to not compromise his principles no matter what (though, by the time he decides *not* to kill someone, he's already killed Eddie Brock/Venom, and ripped off Doc Oc's limbs while he could feel it, and webbed Hobgoblin's hand shut around a grenade).

It's going to be interesting seeing what happens, at least.

Seems we'll be seeing Ms Danvers debut before her own stand-alone film. Not sure when though.

Also, confirmed the script is in the hands of two ladies. Which is nice.

Cool. Looking forward to it. I've started reading the newer Captain Marvel comics, they're pretty fun.

I got up to date on the Ms. Marvel series, and Captain Marvel's appearance there was... depressing. They're running through the end-of-the-world story (that led to Secret Wars, and the new reboot), and Captain Marvel shows up to basically tell Ms. Marvel, in no uncertain terms, "No, this is the end of it all, the end of everything. We can't stop this, we can't save the day this time. Everyone you know and love is going to die. Go be with them, and try to keep people calm, but don't actually tell them what I just told you." That's a bit much to expect a teenager to process.

I'm guessing Marvel isn't going to try to mix the movie and comic settings, given what they're doing to the comics. But hey, more stories for us!

Makes me wonder if we'll see Taskmaster in Agents of SHIELD at all. I do hope they don't put Ward in that position, he's not quite right for it. If they did do that, maybe they could have the "real" Taskmaster killing him and taking his spot?

Not nudity mature. More 'dear lord, she just garrotted him with his son's intestines' type mature certificate. Show us just how deep that red in the ledger is.
